Trump is turning a blind eye to:
āļøStatewide flood costs up $9.3 million annually by 2030
šļøOver 24,000 acres of wetlands in MA disappearing by 2100
āļøRising temps bringing up to 400 additional heat-related deaths annually by the end of the century
Iāll fight to protect federal climate regulations.

MassLive: Mass. Sen. Markey rolls out 'Ratepayer Roadmap' as Iran War fuels energy price surge "āAmericansā energy bills are skyrocketing, at the gas pump and in monthly utility bills, but these increasing costs are a choice being made by the Trump administration and by Republicans in Congress,ā Markey said. āWe donāt have to accept the endless rise in pricesāwe have the solutions, and we can fight back.ā The three-pronged plan seeks to provide immediate relief to consumers, even as it calls for ācleaner, affordable, and ready-to-go energy,ā while tackling what Markey described as āprice-spiking and profiteering.ā"
Energy prices are skyrocketing.
Here's my plan to lower them:
As @sanders.senate.gov and @aoc.bsky.social debates on how we power data centers, these are some useful ideas.
We can do it clean and without passing the cost to ratepayers, and with investing in our aging grid infrastructure.
SCOOP: Alabama might be the first state to ever ban new solar farms.
Why? People are upset about a gigantic solar project that would power a Meta data center.
Turns out when you tie solar to data centers, it can quickly become less popular!
There you go :)

actually wrote this article as a rebuttal to @mattyglesias.bsky.social arguing democrats need to embrace oil & gas industry to win on affordability.
I wholeheartedly and loudly disagree.
Democrats can tax corporate polluters to fund clean energy at scale. They can invoke Defense Production Act to shore up domestic supply chains, streamline permitting for clean energy & transmission. Utilities should be accountable to public, not shareholders.
www.illinoispolicy.org/pritzker-dou...
This is Trumpās payback to his corrupt fossil fuel donors. Every clean inexpensive energy source he takes off the grid moves the grid back to marginal polluting fossil plants that would otherwise be off line.
Billions goes from ratepayers to big donors. Itās a scheme.

Warning signs are already visible. Pipeline revivals & climate backsliding in NY now masquerade as "affordability" measures. Democrats must reject this. Abandoning climate goals will not make energy cheaper. It will make it more volatile, more polluted, and more unjust.
heatmap.news/climate/new-...
I'd like to remind everyone that we do not in fact have to just ask.
None of this happens without political courage, but if the Democrats want to win on affordability & build a durable governing coalition, this is the path forward.
The 2026 midterm is a crucial test. As the AI lobby spends millions, Democrats should fight for the people.
www.npr.org/2026/01/26/n...
Policymakers must regulate Big Techās AI data center build-out & require them to pay for grid upgrades.
Innovative clean energy procurement, Googleās efforts to match data center demand with carbon-free power & flexible load management, should set the baseline.

A modern Green New Deal framework can address affordability and climate simultaneously, & this is the platform. We know what works. Leaders like @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social in New York has shown that linking climate action to cost of living is a winning strategy.

Democrats now hold favorable polling ratings on affordability. If they fail to lead, they risk ceding the narrative to technocrats, Silicon Valley āabundanceā ideologues, and fossil fuel interests offering false solutions: more drilling & the same broken status quo.
www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...
Trump's closeness to fossil fuel executives makes his "drill, baby, drill" rhetoric politically convenient but economically hollow. Expanding domestic drilling or seizing Venezuelan oil will not lower bills, because Big Oil has no incentive to sacrifice profits.
newrepublic.com/article/2051...
Coal, one of the most expensive sources of electricity, remains on life support in states like Michigan for purely political reasons. The systematic undermining of climate science at EPA & DOE will only accelerate climate-driven inflation & insurance premiums.
www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
Trump's vendetta against wind energy has already raised electricity prices in New England while eliminating thousands of well-paying union jobs. His efforts to gut clean energy tax credits have slowed deployment just as electricity demand surges.
mainemorningstar.com/2025/09/11/l...
Geopolitics compound the problem. Electricity prices remain tethered to globally traded fossil fuels like oil and gas, leaving Americans exposed to price volatility beyond their control, such as recently as the war in Iran.
www.ft.com/content/19f2...
Bills also increased because regulatory barriers, & interconnection delays slow clean energy deployment, particularly in blue states.
The problem is intensifying: Explosive demand from AI data centers is straining regional grids like PJM & pushing prices higher.
www.utilitydive.com/news/pjm-cap...
Bills have risen largely because utilities spent money into grid infrastructure, replacing aging poles, wires & repairing damage from frequent climate disasters.
90-94% of new electricity generation added in recent years has been fossil free, cost of it keeps on falling.
grist.org/energy/power...
Democrats can lead by clearly explaining why electricity prices are rising, or they can surrender the narrative to corporate pundits aligned with Big Tech. They are now racing to power massive AI data centers, even if doing so locks in new fossil fuel infrastructure.
www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
The climate debate is changing, & democrats need to get ahead of it. U.S. emissions rose by 2.4% in 2025 & as Trump wages an irrational crusade against wind & solar energy while maintaining financial ties to the fossil fuel industry.
www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
The Green New Deal framework, introduced by @aoc.bsky.social & @edmarkey.bsky.social remains crucial to advance climate & affordability goals in the era of rising electricity demand.
We shouldn't cede the narrative to the fossil fuel industry on this. #EnergySky

"If a very blue state like New York moves backwards on climate change as well, thatās a negative sign for the country. If you canāt do it here, can you do it anywhere?"-- @michaelgerrard.bsky.social [gift link]
A modern Green New Deal framework can address affordability and climate simultaneously, and this is the platform Democrats should run on, writes @daxx.bsky.social.
First the Trump administration ended support for clean energy
Then they tried to shut down existing wind farms
Now they're going to pay foreign firms $1 billion to not produce clean energy
Anything to prop up the Big Oil business model

When voters are asked to rank abstract issues against each other, āclimateā seems to lose to ācost of living.ā But the real question is whether voters want policies that tackle the climate crisis while delivering material benefits. The evidence says yes. substack.com/home/post/p-...
