I'm more in favour of strategic high leverage use of Varland and Rogers, and forget the "closer" role. Need a K? Varland. Need a GIDP? Rogers. Because he tends to be less volatile and only falls prey to bad luck, I lean more toward Rogers for 9th work if he's not needed earlier.
