@lewisgrahamlaw.bsky.social aside from individual cases as activist/ otherwise, I also have the sense that pushback over 201s reflects a feeling that the ECHR's influence just became 'too big' for the political appetite of some. ... extract below from smthg I am writing, which cites Wildhaber (2017)

btw I do not think that it was a change of President at the ECtHR that did it (Wildhaber [President up until 2007, was in the minority in Hirst, and an advocate of self-restraint] - but otherwise I see what Lord Reed argues for here...

The final meeting of the Core Group of States towards the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Agression in Ukraine concluded yesterday.

Now that the technical ground work is done the question is whether there is political will to establish the tribunal.
