That is for services rendered, not for a public good. Not saying we should defund NPR but it isn't the same thing.

Lately, I’ve seen people get caught up in Trump and Musk’s trolling, wasting energy on culture war distractions. They thrive on outrage, but we need to focus on what matters: protecting our institutions and building a strong, united people’s movement. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize.

I think one’s digital identity is still bound to Blue Sky so portability still isn’t possible. I am not sure thought—do you know?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Absolutely agree. Being a nonprofit does not guarantee the ecosystem doesn’t devolve into centralization. Nothing does. I think we should all try to figure out the best governance model for the long term health of the ecosystem. W3C is way too slow. Free Our Feeds is a promising development.

Makes sense. But if Blue Sky has most of the users in the ecosystem and there is no easy path for user migration and interop then we have a new walled garden. I would like to see the protocol broken off into a nonprofit then ensures user portability and interop between apps. Maybe Free Our Feeds.

Welcome! Look for "starter packs" related to your interests to find prepackaged groups of people to follow. Let me know if you need help!

Will Free Our Feeds oversee ATproto? How is the conflict of interest of having a for profit app, Blue Sky, and the open protocol, ATproto, currently being managed by the same org being addressed? Real, not snarky, question. There is so much potential. The world needs this.

Donations to Biden's inaugural fund in 2021:

Meta = $0
Tim Cook = $0
Sam Altman = $0
Google = $200,000
Amazon = $200,000

Donations to Trump's inaugural fund in 2025:

Meta = $1,000,000
Tim Cook = $1,000,000
Sam Altman = $1,000,000
Google = $1,000,000
Amazon = $1,000,000

I just bought one. Totally solar powered, great features, 80% not owned by Musk, most American car there is. I do wish that Tesla would fire Musk.

Some thoughts on this concern and a pitch for an open design process for said internet governance. youtu.be/WlS_Kau7Z7o?...

1 year ago 1 0 0 0

This would of course require buy-in from Blue Sky. And ideally other protocols like Activity Pub, and standards like Decentralized Identity. We need internet governance that has its incentives aligned with the mission of enabling an open, interoperable, and performant media ecosystem.

1 year ago 2 0 0 0

@skyseed.fund is protocol governance a concern for Skyseed? Is there a conflict of interest with the for profit, Blue Sky (albeit a Benefit Corp), governing over ATproto, something intended to be an open commons? I think funding nonprofit governance dev alongside technical projects would be wise.

Map shows where effort to replace Electoral College stands Nearly 20 years in the making, the reform initiative seeks to change the way Electoral College votes are counted.

Goddam, people are actually working on solutions and you are just whining without offering anything productive. www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/ele...

Again, that is something we can change. You seem committed to your dislike of the US system without understanding it or offering a realistic way to replace it.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

It seems that you have a fundamental misunderstanding about the constitution. It is an organic document, has been updated to include brown and female people, and can still be updated. What is your remotely realistic alternative to continuing on the path that has gotten us this far?

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

That wasn’t my question. Humans are fallible and have a hard time bucking norms of the times they live in. Why throw the constitution with their poor behavior?
