Don't laugh. We all remember how he ended the Ukraine war in 24 hours as he had promised.

Does he even realize how embarrassing this is?

Never in history were sycophants so easy to identify.

Out stable genius may well have ushered in the end of the American empire. The petrodollar at risk (at a time when we need it most due to our large deficits), allies threatening to close our military bases or restrict their use (see EU), nobody trusting us anymore.

Being in charge of a drifting vessel (with cargo containers you can't even search) isn't a good thing.

Also in the report, Trump seems to be considering to give himself the Medal of Honor, presumably because he experienced a night landing in Iraq for a troop visit in his first term.

The argumentation is fascinating. "We want the strait to be closed, because it helps us and our blockade. Also, if you don't open the strait we'll bomb your civilian infrastructure!"

"Hi, this is Vlad. I'm, uh, a banker. Please lift the sanctions on us, uh, I mean Russia".

And that was in addition to the 24 wars Trump settled!

"The people of Ukraine are dying for their democracy. The people of Hungary just voted for theirs. And JD Vance is proud of standing against both of them."

Well put, Adam.

The Secretary of Health and Human Services isn't interested in healthcare for regular people.

If it's a Democrat it's a reckoning.

If it's a Republican they shrug and move on.

Remember that the IRS only has a "CEO" and no Commissioner because Trump wanted to bypass the Senate confirmation process.

You don't even need Claude Code. Just type "show me a timer" in the chat and it will build a widget and display it inline.

It sounds like the Gizmodo(?) guy wants something like the old Siri functionality where it could set an alarm. Of course the current Siri is far inferior to Claude or ChatGPT.

A timer is not something that requires reasoning. Your NI doesn't help you time things accurately either. 😉 A timer is a tool. Claude is pretty proficient in using (or creating) tools. Haven't tried ChatGPT recently.

Frankly, for me it's not so much about the money but how much time I have to spend on it every year collecting forms etc. In other countries the tax authorities pre-populate your tax return and you basically just check for accuracy, approve and done. Direct File was a big step in that direction.

Freetax USA is cheaper than others, but you still have to pay for your state return.

Direct File also had the ability to automatically import tax return forms (1099, 1095) and personal information, rather than forcing people to enter them again even though the IRS already had all that information.

I'm sick and tired of tax software companies lobbying to keep tax returns complicated and then selling us their "solutions". It could all be so much easier.

NATO is probably the most successful military alliance in history. And we may lose it because of one deranged narcissist's personal grievances.

What the death of Direct File tells us about state capacity We CAN have nice things - if we want them

"[The administration's characterization of Direct File] has it completely backwards. It is a calculation that only makes sense if you do not value the time and money of citizens, but regard the government doing anything to help the public as a burden."

Placing a TV show host in charge of the Pentagon was just as brilliant an idea as making one President.
