The relevant measure is whether they'd be worse than Republicans. Can't think of any pairing in the current US where that'd be the case, no matter how populist the socialist is

Andrew Wakefield sparked massive anti-vax sentiment in the UK... because he was trying to sell a competitor vaccine. He very much was the Big Pharma himself

(He also did enough unnecessary procedures on kids that his medical license was stripped)

The Dan Olsen (Folding Ideas) video goes into detail about how it's not really about the earth being flat so much as a whole mythology where "the earth is flat" is just the gateway

Lord of the Flies makes a lot more sense with the context it's not a statement about human beings in general, but specifically about British upper class school boys

Also it feels like admitting a flaw in the writing if you have "critical" material outside the movie itself, whether or not you're getting away with retrospectively editing it into something else

A mascot costume of the D&D meme "Three Kobolds in a Trench Coat"- in a long khaki beige trench coat. The top kobold is red in colour, wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a blue and green scarf. The middle head is blue, with two hands underneath it, and the bottom head is orange, with a grimace on his face. The orange feet support everything! This is a real costume being worn by a model.

I am delighted to show off the final photos of this behemoth of a project I've been working on since last year: the Three Kobolds in a Trench Coat mascot costume, for the new boardgame of the same name. You can see this in action at UKGE in May!

Laws of war are also weird in that regard because they're not trying to legislate bad things (everything is bad) they're trying to arrange a baseline of people waging war while minimising collateral damage and harm.

The Onion plans to turn Infowars into a comedy site with satirical echoes of the fringe conspiracy theories that Mr. Jones is known for. Tim Heidecker, one of the comedians behind “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, has been hired to serve as “creative director of Infowars.” He said he initially plans to parody Mr. Jones’s “whole modus operandi.”

Mr. Heidecker has been working on his impression of Mr. Jones. But eventually, when that joke gets old, Mr. Heidecker said that he hoped to turn Infowars into a destination for independent and experimental comedy.

“I just thought it would be just a beautiful joke if we could take this pretty toxic, negative, destructive force of Infowars and rebrand it as this beautiful place for our creativity,” Mr. Heidecker said in an interview. During a recent trip to Philadelphia, he traveled to the Liberty Bell to film a video in character as the new creative director of Infowars.

Yeah, that makes me think the people contending that are either misrepresentating something or Starmer deliberately avoided knowing

A rare 6-foot bright orange nurse shark with white eyes was discovered and released off the coast of Costa Rica in August 2025, first documented sighting. The unique color is caused by a combination of two rare genetic conditions: xanthism (excessive yellow pigmentation) and partial albinism.

Comic. I’m at my desk, leaning over to the doorway, saying “Hey! Foghorn! Foghorn Leghorn! Get in here!”
Foghorn Leghorn is walking past the doorway, “Boy, I tell ya, I tell ya, not so loud, boy. What, I say, I say, what d’ya want?”
Next panel, I’m gesturing to my computer. “How do I find that really good manga you recommended? It’s an anime now? I keep getting Halloween costumes.” Foghorn leans over my chair, “well, boy, I say, I say, you ain’t typin the entire title.”
Last panel, I turn around- “you said ‘witch hat.’ Foghorn gets in my face- “open your ears, boy!! ‘Witch Hat Atelier, I tell ya! I tell ya ‘Atelier,’ I tell ya’”

Something indie TTRPG authors have got to accept is dice tables of Weird Shit cannot be brief. A haunted doll that looks like the party leader's mother is creepy in isolation, but when it comes up four times in one session because the table it's on only has like twelve entries it's a running gag.

A Google query for "What is the most hexagon shaped bird".

The AI summary reads: "Based on an analysis of hexagonal shapes in nature, the "most hexagon shaped bird" is not a specific species of bird, but rather the dragonfly."

LOTR is, relative to its own history, set in a post-apocalypse, and basically no other media lifting from it keeps that aspect
