Too many people want to be haters/contrarians without forming a coherent opinion, so they just end up saying shit. Really annoying, especially when there's like a little seed of truth to it that can no longer be recovered.

You're a good dude, Danny
In general, it feels like they had such an acute focus on this aspect of the game. I had fairly low expectations, but it's outright great in terms of imitating life, at least in this Outskirts section. Brief list to not make multiple posts out of it.
Been paying more attention to little things devs do to make the world feel alive, and the cool touch in TW1 that I don't often see is NPCs reacting to rain. Whenever it rains they all run to get inside or at least stand somewhere where they won't get wet.
Pretty game
didn't you put your phone in the pool because it was too hot or something?
Low key demonic map design to let you get this far in by following the river bank without actually having a path to the bridge, so you have to walk all the way around.
Looked at The Expanse beta gameplay showcase, and it looks like the AAA game people think of when they make fun of AAA. Driest, blandest dialogue known to man, and the gameplay looks like a bog-standard cover shooter, but with Mass Effect squad commands and abilities.
I've gotten used to all sorts of fucked up controls over the years, but NONE of it comes even close to trying to use left stick for looking and right stick for moving. It's like trying to draw with your non-dominant hand.
“CONAN HOLDS YOUR PRIVACY SACRED Our encampment processes personal data, wielding the power as cautiously as Conan wields his sword. Should you wish to cover your footsteps and forbid us from sharing your secrets, strike at the 'I wish to cloak my presence' rune. I WISH TO CLOAK MY PRESENCE”
Completely tossed at the official conan the barbarian website’s cookie notification window.
This bit is extremely Nintendo
The game I think had 300% draw distance option even on release, but you can tell why it's not called 100%. It's pretty jarring to see LoDs jumping around. This is a game that looks much better from ground level rather than from above.
I'm only using the patch that makes the game not crash constantly on modern mindows, but I've been looking through mods people are using, and this game looks so weird without the usual draw distance limitations.
Downloaded Gothic, will probably do bits of replay between Witcher sessions. Already noticed another similarity with how both require you to train/learn to properly harvest stuff from monsters/animals. Though in terms of herbal stuff Gothic is mostly limited to eating shit off the ground to heal.
Listen bro, these things are called hors d'oeuvres. It is what it is, the French won. We can't call it something pronounceable, so if you're really in a pinch just say appetisers. If you say "can I get some of those horse devours" everyone will laugh at us.
They're renaming Watsonian and Doylist reasoning to Innie vs Outie
Mayakovsky is pretty fun, not sure about specific book collections though, but I assume they're pretty similar.
We're all on that list brother
It's kinda funny that MoH PS1 was like "framerate drops dramatically with 3 enemies on screen, let's try to keep it to 2 maximum with a few exceptions."
Meanwhile, GoldenEye: AYYYY, FRAMERATE IS STILL IN DOUBLE DIGITS, LET'S GET A FEW MORE GUYS IN HERE TILL THIS SHIT IS CHU-CHU-CHUGGING
If you don't stop hiding behind the block button there will be consequences. You have been warned.
Yeah, I've been meaning to go through the whole thing at some point, spinoffs and all. Maybe I'll get on chipping away at that after Witcher.
I only really played Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid but yeah they're pretty cool
You can fill in the blanks, but then some new element will pop into the scene, or things will jump to a different location somehow. It really feels more about saying fuck it and letting him say some shit that sounds cool and futuristic.
On the other hand, got back to reading Neuromancer, and I'm enjoying the vibes, but I really don't fuck with the style of writing. I like to imagine things playing out when I read, and Gibson makes it difficult because he really does not describe anything in any detail.
I don't know how anyone uses it as an introduction to Greek myth. It feels like he tried to try and weave one story out of all the conflicting ones, but also present it in a more conventional, entertaining way. So it's just a soup of Greek names with british humor.
I had Fry's Mythos audio book on my tablet for nights when I need to get knocked out. Rarely takes more than half an hour to fall asleep. Today was quite severe, and I've gotten far enough to really feel like I just don't like this (audio)book.
Nothing makes a game feel more like a product than "we know yall like this other shit" DLC
Even the timed element kinda has a parallel. Gothic sort of doesn't have an attack button, you use directional keys to swing your weapon, and then you chain attacks together by timing them. As you train the attacks get faster and you get access to a little spinarooni.
It's arguably even more overt with combat. Gothic has separate weapon group skills, and as you get trained to fight better, your animations change to reflect it. Witcher does a similar thing but by outright giving you new attacks in the sequence as you level up weapon styles.
