Tim Cook to become Apple Executive Chairman John Ternus to become Apple CEO Apple announced that Tim Cook will become executive chairman of Apple’s board of directors and John Ternus, senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, will become Apple’s next chief executive officer effective on September 1, 2026.

It’s not every day that the largest technology company in the world changes CEOs. Even though this had been strongly rumored for awhile, Tim Cook stepping down in September and John Ternus taking over as Apple CEO is quite a big deal for the future of the company.

GOSH@10: On Governance & Belonging - Open Science Hardware Foundation When Suleiman Abdulsalam first encountered GOSH in 2022, he brought with him unusual expertise in how communities govern themselves – how they make decisions together, distribute resources fairly, and maintain autonomy as they grow. He hadn’t come through the hardware side of open science, but that…

Next up in our #GOSHat10 series is a piece on Suleiman Abdulsalam and his work with GOSH. His academic work in participatory governance applied to GOSH governance has helped the community grow stronger over the years.

It's Monday and this tulip magnolia bud vaguely resembles Audrey 2.

Clawdbot/OpenClaw is a local agent that has hooks into a TON of desktop activities on a Mac, with your choice of cloud services behind it. I’ve just been playing with it and it is extremely compelling as an overall model for personal chat agents. Would be interested to hear your take on it.

Have you tried Clawdbot/Moltbot/OpenClaw yet? Similar risk profile, but so compelling in use. Seems to indicate to me a market for (secure) local agents that’s just starting to be explored.

That morning was, in many ways, my first experience with tragedy. I'd dealt with loss & grief. But this was bigger than that in ways that I didn't have words for. I can still remember the numbness and shock, how it felt in 12-year-old me.

Space Shuttle Challenger Mission Patch

40 years ago this morning, I was 12 years old and sitting in front of my grandmother's TV. We had a snow day off school, and I was so excited that I got to watch the Shuttle take off.

Looking to grab food in the Zurich airport to eat at gate, saw a takeaway sushi place.

First roll I saw was an “Italian” roll that has freaking parsley on the outside of it.

Uh. I’ll pass. WTF Zurich?

Man, documenting something while you build it makes it take like 100 times longer! But i finally finished the steps for how to build the latest "Mothbox Pro."

Now, when I put them together, it's a breeze!

This is the same cooperation problem that has faced libraries (and other hyper-locally funded community orgs) for the last 30 years - it's a hard-sell to convince a Board or local government to fund non-local groups. Politically, I mean. Makes all the sense in the world, and yet....

My kid finished her "final" college app last night! Applying for a BFA in Musical Theater. A few stats:

24 different schools
48 different applications (each has both academic AND artistic)
28 different versions of edited, final prescreen videos
89 different videos recorded in total

Insane process!

This is a very well expressed sentiment, and is a thought I've presented on far less succinctly in the past.
