Insane how far some people will go to justify the actions of protest groups they agree with.

You’ll never get a reasonable answer to this question. Nobody has any clue how to do it or how much it would raise but it’s a great line to show how virtuous you are on Bluesky to a bunch of people who are desperate to do the same.
Are we able to not support it and not oppose it simultaneously?
Popcorn please!
See the never Hillary voters for a perfect example of this.
I find the idea fascinating. Many places in the UK have subsidised bus travel which has proven effective but nobody is talking about making it free.
I don’t know a lot about NYC but I’d suggest that’s a winning manifesto
I hadn’t thought of this but it’s so true 😂😂
Absolutely gopping livery. I have no memory of it at all.
If you have midterms.
Lots of people turned out in lots of places that vote democrat. Quite a lot of people turned out in places that don’t vote democrat. I guess the question is whether the dial has turned enough. Are 51% of voters in red areas going blue? I have no idea.
Do you see any broader changes as a result of this? Any changes at the ballot box?
Great that people are turning out. I suppose the question is how much bigger? How many have swung and will it move seats or states blue? Assuming there are elections again.
Just going round Bluesky correcting inaccuracies as they pop up. Until he’s dead he’s simply ‘the king of…’. I’m sure you don’t care but now you know.
Has the King died? If not referring to him as Charles III is incorrect. I’m happy to not have a monarchy but let’s be accurate.
Agree. The policies we have in place and the approach being taken is probably the best case we will get even if imperfect. The privatisation or the grid was a huge error
If you take a look at the work of UKIB/NWF you will see government stakes in a range of infrastructure projects related to energy as well as debt and guarantees. There’s also SNIB in Scotland.
Both solar and wind need huge downstream infrastructure investments. Not just storage, although that’s a big challenge, but the infrastructure to transfer energy to the grid. Once built that becomes operationally cheap compared to fossil fuels or nuclear but the capital to build it is staggering.
That would be deal specific. I’m with you on the fairness point. It all depends on whether you want low carbon energy or not. If you do the market isn’t going to solve the problem itself because it’s just too high risk and capital intensive.
It does. It has equity in major projects like Sizewell.
The alternative is to entirely fund things publicly which is extremely expensive and then requires state management. Or to leave the market to solve the problem. The latter isn’t moving fast enough to meet policy requirements hence the government involvement.
Why would a private company build something without it being profitable?
How would you propose building major infrastructure projects without government backing?
Zero chance. They don’t give a fuck. You won’t find two more corrupt, venal or self serving international bodies.
But Starmer is a Tory still right? Right?
Oh. Yeah that’s fucking stupid.
Sounds pretty similar to the UK approach.
I’m fully aware of that. Helpfully it was featured in that Hollywood blockbuster
A blockbuster film about his achievements starring world famous actors was made less than a decade ago. Unsung?
Helps when you have no commute and all your ancillary tasks are taken care of. Agree it’s what I would expect of a prime minister but he could take a bit more time for his family.
They’re doing what they said they would and America elected them anyway.
