From what I understand they stopped animal acts in 2017ish. I believe they've come back with human-only acts, which I presume is more based on a Cirque du soleil model.

There's still a lot of bad press about zoos. It's easy to get people angry about lies & "click bait" headlines than it is to learn the truth about zoos. Betty White advocated heavily for zoos and I think if you're on the wrong side of Betty White, you're on the wrong side of history.

And Barnum & Bailey had stopped the use of animals in their shows some years before they finally completely closed down.

I was a zoo educator for 5 years. Since the early 70s there have been huge changes to how zoo animals are cared for. So many would be extinct if it weren't for zoo breeding programs. People would ask "why can't they be returned to the wild?" Thing is, there's no wild left. Humans have destroyed it.

Which is why they updated the packaging. You shouldn't be as worried about the circus animals as the "Menagerie" that toured with the circus. One tent of wild animals in stalls (early zoos)They were known for ripping animals from the wild and then the tents burning down with the animals inside. Yuck
