It's another example of how Republicans feel entitled to do things, but no one else can. It's a perfect encapsulation of their entire world view.

I guess I'm in the minority cause that's not a bad list to me. A couple of bad candidates and a couple I don't see getting out of the first round, but mostly serious people. At this point, no one will look very presidential until they're on that stage.
John Roberts’ Wife Made Millions From Bribes
Roberts accepted $10 Million in bribes disguised as recruiting fees from Law firms with cases pending before the Supreme Court.

I agree it's important that people think their vote matters. Incremental change is frustrating, but it's partly a function of democracy, which inherently moves more slowly than autocracy. Big leaps in progress require certain conditions to exists, and only voters can create those conditions.
I don't disagree that there are many reasons for voters to be disillusioned by Dems, or even in politics broadly. But I believe people removing themselves from the political process leads to worse results.
Except things have changed at their level. Republicans have slashed all sorts of programs designed to help them. I'm not going to argue that shaming them is a good political strategy, but saying "I'm not going to vote because nothing ever changes" quickly becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I get it. I know it's easier for me to say when it's not my family. And really, there's nothing saying Gaza cost Kamala the election. What we have now is worse for everyone, including those people and their families. Now more people are dead and more families are torn apart.
That's true. Kamala screwed that one up. But also, that wasn't the only thing at stake in the election.
Booker's statement is bad politics, though I am startled by the number of people who don't think they bear any responsibility for the choices they make at the ballot box.
Yeah, recriminations over what went wrong with Dems in '16 and '24 is not going to win anybody over and pols would be smart to leave it alone in. However, I do hold the (admittedly) unpopular opinion that voters bear more responsibility for their choices than they'd ever like to admit.
Ossoff is doing this type of messaging better than anyone right now.
You can tell these "moderate" pols are using the same overpaid consultants. This isn't an issue that will move a single vote, but it is the exact type of slop X-brained strategists love to peddle to empty suits.
The US government needs more Summer Lees and fewer nepo druggies with roadkill fetishes.
To round out Black Maternal Health Week, I had the opportunity to ask HHS Secretary RFK Jr. straight up what he's doing to ensure Black women don't die during childbirth.
He didn't have much of an answer.
I'd put my money on Fetterman never winning another campaign in his life, regardless of what ticket he runs on.
I haven't heard anyone talk about it, but I'm curious if there will be any recourse to claw back some of what he has made.
Hey, Senator, how are Democrats going to be successful running on a message of affordability when you're voting to send hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars overseas to causes Americans broadly despise?
Support for Israel among Democrats is polling at something like 13% last I saw, but the highest ranking member of the party is still on board. This is not a matter of Schumer being out of touch. He knows what Dem voters think, and he is making a conscious choice to flaunt his disrespect of them.
I see nothing to change my opinion that Schumer loves Israel more than America.
Some people have been incredulous about the timing the accusations against Swalwell, and all I can think is that American culture still doesn't have a permission structure that would allow women to feel safe coming forward with their stories. TL;DR Me Too didn't go far enough.
Independent media has done an admirable job of filling some of that void, if people are willing to seek it out. Where independent media still falls a bit short is their lack of resources to do the type of investigative journalism that made legacy media so valuable.
Would people be so dismissive of the nazi tattoo if Platner were running as a Republican? Besides, maybe it's not as much about his tattoo as his history of exhibiting poor judgement.
At first glance this sounds pretty smart.
That said, I believe getting past this moment is going to be really messy and involve "alliances" that people would prefer not to make. Not overreacting to things like this or the Kamala/ Liz Cheney thing will be key.
I don't think there's anything wrong with encouraging them to speak out against this administration. If people like MTG eventually find themselves sitting on the right side of history, great. But we can't afford to blindly trust that she's acting in good faith.
Respectfully disagree. I think more civic participation is good for democracy. And the more people who participate, the more representative the results are of what people want, good or bad. Also, if more people participated, it might give them a reason to pay attention.
Just the jokers.
I hate it so much. I hate how much the American people's faith in government has been eroded by political scandals. And then to have the revelations time after time about how many people knew, could've acted, but stayed silent.
