Why, oh why have the makers of this programme added a background hum of some random musical sound. It‘s relentless. I’ve given up on it. I suppose the intention was to be soothing -but it irritated me as much as a chalky squeak on a blackboard #grumpylistener www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
Thanks to @mpsheritage.bsky.social I think I may have identified an original Sylvia Pankhurst artwork. Altho' for licensing agreement the pic below isn't the original - but to unravel the mystery read on...

This lovely painting is among those in the current Seurat exhibition at the Courtauld Gallery. I could feel the breeze coming off the sea. mba.tournai.be/collection/g...
Just seen this. Many thanks.
Many thanks for the info. My query via the contact form was to ask if you could email me a pic of the object to use in the post on my website? Full credit given, of course. I think you may learn #somethingtoyouradvantage…
I've sent a query about this certificate to you via your contact form - but meant also to ask if it is framed? And if the Museum perhaps also holds another of the certificates, presumably dedicated to another name. Records show that 2 framed certificates were taken..
This is SO interesting. I shall write a piece about it for my website right now…womanandhersphere.com. So do look out for it
If you're in need of historical research (in archives or more generally), indexing, editing or copyediting, I have some capacity for freelance work over the coming months. Do take a look at my website and be in touch - I'm happy to chat about how I might be able to help.

I remember seeing this when visiting the Police Heritage Centre for research in 2014. Years later I realised it was seized from WSPU HQ in police raid in April 1913 - see TNA MEPO/3/2407. Can you remind me of the name on your certificate?
I very much enjoyed this - and your other MS articles. Found many connections with my interests - eg my (much repaired) Eglington Tournament jug.
Excellent…tho’ I’d like to read it right now…
Congratulations…that’s very good to hear, Mari…

Such an interesting article. Packed with intriguing details.
And what I find amazing
is how little mention is made of this situation. ‘Cos, of course, if available as ebooks, books are only stocked in that form, & ebooks are inaccessible. Catch-22. So it’s impossible to access academic works pub in last decade. The ebook policy is hopeless. We need print
NB deadline is 30 April on this post - but 29 March on the website. Might lead to confusion…
This is, I think, a link to a number of free eprints of my WHR Viewpoint discussing my 4 decades as a bookseller, an occupation that has brought with it the opportunity to research and write. If you're interested, feel free...

No surprise here. Alas
Oh, Lissa, how I am at one with you on 'p-p'. I regret to say that even @financialtimes.com has caused me ap-plexy on this count
Seconded.
This is a potential hostage to fortune, given that I don't yet know what the guests thought of it, but I'm hugely thrilled to say that in tomorrow's episode of 'A Good Read' (BBC Radio4 at 3pm), Harriett Gilbert 's book choice is my novel, 'Small Bomb at Dimperley'.

Very welcome annoucement for the sector. Recognises the economic impact of cultural venues in our towns and cities, but also our work to reach everyone in communities, inspire young people and improve lives. www.gov.uk/government/n... @artscouncilengland.bsky.social

@womanssphere.bsky.social is now speaking about her forthcoming book on the British Suffrage Movement in 100 Objects at @fotwl.bsky.social conference today. 49 of the 100 objects come from @lselibrary.bsky.social #WomensLibrary.
Very insightful paper by @carolinederry.bsky.social here at @fotwl.bsky.social event to celebrate 💯 of @lselibrary.bsky.social #WomensLibrary on legal campaigns & debates around the age of consent & equal moral standard. Intersections with class, gender, age & sexuality highlighted are fascinating.
