Moving Pictures - Series 1 - A Flower Painting by Rachel Ruysch - BBC Sounds What is hiding in the undergrowth of Rachel Ruysch's brilliant, beautiful flower painting?

Why, oh why have the makers of this programme added a background hum of some random musical sound. It‘s relentless. I’ve given up on it. I suppose the intention was to be soothing -but it irritated me as much as a chalky squeak on a blackboard #grumpylistener www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Many thanks for the info. My query via the contact form was to ask if you could email me a pic of the object to use in the post on my website? Full credit given, of course. I think you may learn #somethingtoyouradvantage

I've sent a query about this certificate to you via your contact form - but meant also to ask if it is framed? And if the Museum perhaps also holds another of the certificates, presumably dedicated to another name. Records show that 2 framed certificates were taken..

I remember seeing this when visiting the Police Heritage Centre for research in 2014. Years later I realised it was seized from WSPU HQ in police raid in April 1913 - see TNA MEPO/3/2407. Can you remind me of the name on your certificate?

I very much enjoyed this - and your other MS articles. Found many connections with my interests - eg my (much repaired) Eglington Tournament jug.

And what I find amazing
is how little mention is made of this situation. ‘Cos, of course, if available as ebooks, books are only stocked in that form, & ebooks are inaccessible. Catch-22. So it’s impossible to access academic works pub in last decade. The ebook policy is hopeless. We need print

This is a potential hostage to fortune, given that I don't yet know what the guests thought of it, but I'm hugely thrilled to say that in tomorrow's episode of 'A Good Read' (BBC Radio4 at 3pm), Harriett Gilbert 's book choice is my novel, 'Small Bomb at Dimperley'.

Very insightful paper by @carolinederry.bsky.social here at @fotwl.bsky.social event to celebrate 💯 of @lselibrary.bsky.social #WomensLibrary on legal campaigns & debates around the age of consent & equal moral standard. Intersections with class, gender, age & sexuality highlighted are fascinating.
