Farewell, farewell to Gladstone’s Library and the surrounding Flintshire crunchyside, where I have spent an incredibly restorative and story-rich seven days as part of the Milford SFF retreat week…

Heroes Menswear and Tuxedos

"For the men, I like to craft a prison. Colours are drained. The noose tightens no matter the knot. To dress up is to stand on the edge of a plateau and see it is but a thin precipice we decided to call the world - as if that keeps us safe."

A screen cap of an article hed with a photo of a chef in a stainless steel kitchen, peaking potatoes. There are 6 additional chefs working in the background.

The headline is “Diet of Worms will help us survive climate change, say top chefs”.

The post is a play on the famous Edict of Worms, issued by the Diet of Worms, which condemned Martin Luther as a heretic.

Glad to see we’re addressing the root cause of all of this: Luther’s heresy

On March 29, 2007, the first trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV was released on the Rockstar Games website. The site crashed due to high traffic, so several people posted mirrors of the video on different sites. One user on 4chan, Shawn Cotter, linked to the "Never Gonna Give You Up" video rather than the trailer, tricking numerous readers into the bait-and-switch.

A very good thing to do is to pick up and start reading random books others have left out in the library. Today fate placed before me a collection of Elizabeth Enright short stories, and damn! That’s nice stuff

As someone who grew up proximal to Milton Keynes, I'd desperately like to see the kind of holistic planning vision that kicked it off applied somewhere, anywhere in the country instead of more unwieldy bolt-ons to already overpopulated areas

I think enthusiasm for it will be spreading virally from the screening! The guy next to me actually ducked and covered his ears as the titular shout began, top stuff

On April 11, 2019, the Israeli spacecraft Beresheet crashed into the Moon during a failed landing attempt.[1] Its payload included several thousand tardigrades (also known as water bears). Initial reports suggested they could have survived the crash landing. We believe the chances of survival for the tardigrades... are extremely high.— Nova Spivack,

A small tree next to an old church tower

A small tree next to an old church tower

This is my friend in Wood Street, the City of London. His closest friend is the other side of St Alban’s Tower

The church was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666 & rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren

Damaged by bombing during WW2 & the ruins cleared, leaving the tower

This was a great intro-primer to a film that I think much of the audience (me included) hadn't seen before - thanks for doing it! (and boy, what a picture!)

I've had more special film experiences at the @princecharlescinema.com than any another cinema combined. It's irreplaceable, and dear to the hearts of people around this whole planet, as the vast upswell of support today proves. Please sign the petition- and standby for further action. #SaveThePCC

SUBMISSIONS OPEN

We’re seeking fantasy, science-fiction, and horror short stories that embrace punk and queer rage.

There’s a glass ceiling in SFF representation, and we want you to throw a brick through it. Bring us the coven that burned Salem and your roaring bear-serkers. We want gangs of acid-wash werewolves, furious bipyromancers, flesh-eating femmes, and vengeant celestial bois—a cast of the downtrodden who make ruins of their oppressors.

Wrath lies at the heart of queer liberation—it can be a spur to action and the only righteous response to a world that would prefer we didn’t exist. So crash mainframes, collapse empires, and break normativity.

Pride month is over. It’s time for—

Thank you for writing it! Sincere, curious, bearing witness to something so vast and so often diminished, just like its subject/'s work - a great eulogy

Yes! Felt like this lovely synthesis of All The Draculas- and then enriched motifs already present in the book and original Nos that have preoccupied Mr Egg and perhaps in his opinion been underdeveloped in other adaptations
