I've been to 5 different cities in the last couple of weeks, had food poisoning and also one of my coworkers disappeared recently (sadly it was probably due to the violent stuff happening lately in MX). Things at work are chaotic.

Not only am I in a city with a ridiculously hot and dry weather trying to get any work done while feeling constantly dehydrated and dealing with people that seem impervious to good manners, I also got food poisoning so everything is 10x worse 🤢

I needed WWX to have some experience with the omega side of things, but a beta to alpha plot sounds so intriguing and unique even if some of the elements are the same. I imagine that as a beta he would not be familiar at all with the kind of impulses and scents that alphas and omegas know so well

My own wip is about omegaji going into heat en route to Mo manor, and newly alpha WWX waking up to a completely new world, finding the juniors panicking and helping the group by being the softest, most respectful and caring alpha they've evet met, who knows all about how to make omegaji comfortable

I have a lot of Thoughts about the state of modern cultivation and how eventually most threats would be contained to the point that cultivators are more of a traditional posh thing. But then WWX arrives to shake things up because he wouldn't be happy with just theory.

LWJ keeps protecting his now husband whenever he's in danger, but it's not because he doubts WWX.

It's just that WWX is far too precious to him.

(Also he looks sexy when he's focused so LWJ needs to give him space to shine without any bothersome corpses getting in the way).

Wangxian become the faces of the new cultivation movement, and they research and invent new techniques and practical applications for all the theory they learned in their youth.

They're a force to be reckoned with.

After that, fierce corpses and other dangers become a bit more common due to some strange energy fluctuations in the planet, but it's ok, because more and more theoretical cultivators turn to practical ones in the following years.

Together they go to the towns where others are trying to help the population and they explain the techniques and talismans they developed, making the process so much easier for everyone and saving most towns soon after.

When they're finally safe they do have a talk alone, which mostly consists of making out, groping each other, and admitting their big fat crushes that started a decade ago and never really went away.

There's a lot of tongue action involved.

Now it's WWX's turn to blush.

(He looks so lovely with flushed cheeks, LWJ wants to see more of it, but now it's not the time)

WWX drops the subject then, and they keep working together until the town is completely secure.

LWJ blushes as he tries to explain that no, he's not underestimating WWX.

He knows and admires WWX's strength and talent.

LWJ just wants to protect him because he cares for him, and he cared for WWX back then too.

However, WWX does not react well to this.

He complains, arguing that LWJ is only trying to protect him because he still thinks of WWX as a woman, as frail. But he's perfectly capable of doing this, or at least as capable as LWJ. He does not appreciate being underestimated!

When one of the few remaining clusters of fierce corpses attacks them by surprise, LWJ jumps in front of WWX and fights off the fierce corpses with the new techniques they have come up with on the past day.

He's glad to let WWX keep working on the talismans they need.

WWX, who is doing most of the attempts at creating working talismans and arrays yet still manages to kick the fierce corpse's asses with physical strength when necessary, is far more tired than LWJ himself.

LWJ thinks it's natural for him to try to protect his old friend.

They are both very smart, though, so they manage to actually do some rudimentary cultivation and eliminate most of the fierce corpses.

It is draining to do that kind of work for the first time ever, so after a while they start getting tired.

Their reunion is rushed, however, as they have other matters to attend to.

They work together to protect the town, using the theory they learned together as teens at an elite school, and never thought they would actually use in a real situation.

It's a lot of trial and error.

But he's so much more beautiful, this time.

He moves and talks with such surety now, almost cocky, like he's grown into himself and feels comfortable in his skin. It's very appealing

He still flirts like breathing but it doesn't feel empty anymore, like WWX knows he can deliver

This does not make him any less attractive to LWJ, quite the contrary.

The sharp intelligence in his eyes, the kindness with which he talks to the townspeople, the brave way he acts when he puts himself in front of others, all of it is the same as LWJ remembers from back then.

Back then, WWX had been the loveliest, most vivacious girl.

She defied every one of LWJ's expectations, so it was not that surprising to LWJ to find himself in love with (he thought) a woman for the first and only time in his life.

But now WWX is a trans man.

LWJ tries to help a little town and in the middle of it all, he's surprised to find his old crush, WWX.

They had last seen each other a decade ago, when WWX was expelled from the Lan Academy.

LWJ's heart never quite recovered.

He still dreams of that smile, of that red ribbon.
