The flagrant misuse of OpenClaw has re-ignited discussions about what is and is not appropriate #LLM use on the network. In the future, we will be enshrining a significantly revised variation of our current, informal LLM etiquette[1] in network policy.

Tell your OpenClaw (and forks) using friends to check on their bots, their logs and how stuff is (vibe/self-)configured. Explain that public IRC nets are not for private bot comms.
Other IRC admins, please lock down #openclaw on your nets to stop it being used for private comms in the open.
We recently noticed that under-supervised and badly configured OpenClaws were joining #openclaw, likely due to the extension's documentation. The closures are explicitly for harm reduction. We contacted OpenClaw, and they have partially fixed the docs. No public networks should be recommended. Alas.

Update: This was our April 1st 2025 prank. It was a reminder that burnout is real, especially in volunteer efforts, and that it has no easy answers. It was also a protest about the social burden of LLMs - often trained using questionable ethics - including on the quality of support resources.
