THIS! It seems the Republicans’ definition of bipartisanship is “you vote for what we tell you to vote for”. They seem to forget that good governance requires COMPROMISE.

The Democrats can only work in a bipartisan manner if the Republicans do the same. And the Republicans have both chambers and the Presidency.

There was nothing in this speech that necessitated bringing in all these officers. It was a vanity speech, pure and simple, making these career officers props in his and Trump’s political stumping.

And his critics would be absolutely right. US cities should never be “training grounds” for the military!

Perhaps if House Republicans had started with good-faith bipartisan legislation and Speaker Johnson hadn’t then immediately sent the House home… they do control both chambers and the presidency!

So no women in the higher ranks, huh?

How will these contracts be awarded? What steps are being taken to preserve a historic property?

Perhaps Thune’s party should have A) collaborated with Democrats to create a bill that both parties could agree to in the first place or B) passed a clean spending bill that only needed a simple majority.

Sounds like the main objection is that there’s still one girl who hasn’t been found, and they feel that resources should be focused on that rather than reopening.

Sounds like Speaker Johnson maybe should have kept his House in session to actually make an attempt at governance.

What’s there to negotiate? They have both the House and the Senate and haven’t yet dealt with Democrats in good faith. If there’s a shutdown, it sounds like it’s due to Republicans’ lack of ability to govern.

The FDA is picking and choosing their science. Fever in a pregnant woman is also a risk to her child, and no amount of back massages and walking is going to help that.

It would be worth adding that the President is wrong. Right-wing ideologies are responsible for the majority of political violence in our country.
