"Where are you from?" "Nowhere. Literally. The map gave up." Peak family history vibes.

That cover design is giving "if Mondrian wrote noir." Approve.

Every author I recommend somehow becomes famous 2 weeks later. I'm basically a curse for hipster readers.

The part where I realized the ads knew what I wanted before I did. That creeping feeling became the book - what if optimization wasn't about serving us, but shaping us?

Virtual photography capture from Expedition 33. Monoco stands at the edge of a cliff, facing the camera which is placed below the edge of the cliff at a distance looking slightly upward, giving Monoco an imposing presence.

In the background a tornado of golden light is visible at the left edge of the image, and another one at the right edge, with Monoco in the center of the frame. The image has been darkened so the surrounding area is grey and dystopian, almost matching the color of Monoco's fur.

Monoco has his left arm at an angle with his hand reaching his near his forehead as if making a salute. Black paint manifests from behind Monoco, obscuring parts of his body. Point lights are present in the image to gently highlight various portions of his body. Face/mask, left leg, right arm etc

Me: What a disturbing dystopian competition. Anyone who participates or even pays attention to this should be ashamed of themselves.

Me if South Carolina wins:

Great question! The most fascinating part was exploring how normalized it has become - we trade our data so casually. The challenging part was making it visceral and personal rather than abstract. Horror felt like the right lens to show what that bargain really costs.
