I know I'm probably just screaming into the void, but I guess it's worth a shot to ask. I just need help on this project, I'm doing it alone right now, I've been at this thing for 10+ years, I'm losing my goddamn mind.

A picture of my kitchen cabinets stocked with U.S. military MREs (Meal, Ready to Eat - food ration).
So I located and picked up some recent and fresh official U.S. military MREs at a crazy low price, less than $3 for an entire meal. Now I can spend more time on #gamedev instead of needing to cook or go to the grocery store, am I weird or just efficient?

Yea they are, the BUILD engine ones are known to be notoriously fatal.
Sometimes it’s for the best. It’s all about doing what you can with what you’ve got.
Wisdom to live by.
Don’t sweat it, I can’t count how many times I’ve dumped current builds and restarted work on a project. Sometimes it’s just for the best and you get to begin again with knowledge and experience you don’t have the last time around. It doesn’t mean you’re pulling a Duke Nukem Forever or anything 😅
Thank you for creating it, resources like this are just what new and aspiring indie developers need and there’s a lot of good information and advice in there.
AI isn’t bad, it’s just a tool and knowing how to effectively utilize it is a skill in itself and something folks need to learn.
I’d say you’re going about it the right way, it is just a tool and every tool has its place and purpose.
Not expecting or using it as a magic button I think is an appropriate use of it and do agree with you.
Some good information for #indiedev #developers though I personally don’t subscribe to using AI generation in #gamedev.
I do see how it can be beneficial on paper in a big picture argument however I find it always lacks the character and unique touch of hand crafted “manual” work and #design.
That looks great! 🙂
Sounds like my kind of Friday night!
Looks great!
Absolutely adorable 🥰 ❤️ 🐶 🦴
You’re quite welcome. It’s something that requires a lot of skill to do, I think people assume it’s easy compared to 3D models and art but I’d argue it’s more complicated as you’re creating something with dimension and need to account for viewing angles, shadows and shading among many other things.
That’s fantastic what a milestone! Your project looks really great as a fan of Syphon Filter and MGS it’s giving me all the right vibes 🙂
Ooh, just my style. Appreciate the heads up!
This makes me happy in so many ways ❤️
That’s so wonderful to hear I had been so cautiously optimistic during development it’s relieving to hear good impressions from players the series has needed a win for a long time now.
Yeah, used a photo reference to start and then manipulated it over several frames to create the full effect.
You’re doing great especially for a first release. Focus on getting your project some more exposure using updates posted here, etc. Try to relax, you’re doing well keep up that momentum. 🙂
Sounds like bliss!
Aww what a cutie!
Yeah the directors commentary made it sound like it was quite the project with a lot of challenges. Dan O’Bannon I always felt was too hard on himself about it he created something great that has become quite timeless.
Sometimes you just need a day to plug in and drop out no shame in that.
That’s brilliant great work!!
I agree! The humor delivery is so dry I’m convinced at least some of the best moments were probably unintentional.
Beautiful, pixel art is much more complicated than most people think you did a really great job.
You’re most welcome it’s well deserved you’ve got talent!
