Has anyone done a badge yet saying ‘Middle class woman of a certain age’? Because I think one would suit me.

Do you also sometimes mentally add a little footnote to their official biogs? Miss Trala studied with Madame La Shout at the top conservatoire, has starred in numerous operas, sung on the same concert stages as Kiri Te Kanawa (but on a different date), and can’t pitch an F# from a D major chord.

It is an unbreakable rule of huge orchestral/choral works that one of the four soloists must have a sense of pulse so wonky that the orchestra almost has to skip an occasional beat to follow them.

Next stage in son’s development as a musician: learning that the hardest part of forming a new band is not the actual music making (especially when mum knows some great arrangers) but choosing the name & the dress code.
