Ghosts of Dove, American... last century...

Fruit Saint with Banana, 8-18-2018 Started as a photo collaboration with Ace during a fruit shoot. We Researched it a bit. There are all sorts of cultural references; Josephine Baker; the large and public protest over the censorship of work done by Natalia LL in Warsaw; the Chiquita sponsored death squads (alleged) in Columbia; and, the really catchy Chiquita commercials with Monica Lewis (deceased). The fun aspect was also a large part of the process. I mounted a 300lb Hot Press underprint on primed and cradled hardboard. Worked for several days on the piece, creating texture, using heavy gel medium, acrylics, metallic acrylics, micron pens. 12x16x1.5," 3 coats Liquitex Acrylic Gloss Varnish, mixed media, Black on sides, wired and ready to hang.

Peeled Piece, 4-2-2018 In this peeled piece I used the pens to make fine lines all over the image. followed by splats of F&W metallic ink, Liquitex acrylic and razor cuts through the wet paint and paper background. Liquitex Acrylic Gloss Varnish to protect the surface. The sides are finished with Benjamin Moore black chalkboard paint for easy touch up (or notes...). The back is wired and ready to hang. 12"x16."

I would add Preaching Without Proof. Do you know the verse where Jesus said that you can tell a false prophet by whether their predictions come true... I have taken this to mean that bible interpretation is not enough. It has to be backed by outside evidence. Thank you for good work!
