We must not allow FF-FG to scrap the triple lock. It'd mean that they will be sending our young people abroad to fight and die in imperialist wars for the US / NATO.
Public opinion overwhelmingly shows that people do not want this, but we have to show them on the streets that we will not stand by.

Yet another no-trawl zone announced for England... what is Ireland doing?
www.bbc.com/news/article...
Some excellent points from John Gibbons. The carbon tax is a progressive measure, with revenues ring-fenced to support public spending that helps the most vulnerable transition to warmer homes & more sustainable farming practices. Points both the government and opposition should be highlighting
I seesaw between, on good days, feeling we're making real progress towards a more mature, harmonious relationship with the natural world in Ireland, and, on bad days, that we're getting absolutely nowhere.
Seeing stuff like this just makes me despair.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. @dccbeta.bsky.social more bike lanes like this please!
High tech protection here from Coillte, on a tributary feeding the high status River Barrow SAC.
Forestry is the 3rd greatest pressure on Irish waterbodies.
‘I wished for death’: Sexual violence in Israel’s prisons is an ‘organised state policy’ Palestinian testimonies reveal how sexual violence, including rape using objects and dogs, is approved by 'highest levels' of Israeli leadership
The testimony here about sexual violence by Israel against Palestinian prisoners is so beyond the pale everyone must see it.
It is so bad I can’t in good conscience share a quote other than the headline, which somehow manages to understate the horror within.

Fucking assholes.
And even after the Sisters were very careful to state yesterday that they had no issue with the "protestors" and even said they supported them.
Utter pricks
For decades, the people of Galway have been held hostage by the promise of the ring road, a tarmac nirvana.
Imagine if the politicians and planners behind it had instead spent those years delivering a tram system and real active travel infrastructure.
Social Democrats launch ‘Solar for All’ plan to reduce energy costs for households.
Supports for solar panel installation need to be dramatically expanded and improved to help households cut their energy bills...

Images of letter
I signed this letter calling on British and Irish govs to take action on Israel’s continued violations of international law. Specifically: 1) the issuing of tenders to build a new illegal settlement in Jerusalem, and 2) the Israeli gov’s ban on international NGOs in Palestine.
Oh no, people breaking the law are upset about being caught.
Somebody think of the hard pressed law breakers. Why are Cllrs entertaining these people??
Just when we thought it couldn't get worse:
New law means major energy projects won't be checked for their climate impact
They're ramming through laws so they can ram through climate-wrecking projects
and undermining our legislative system in the process

Important progress globally if still far from the 30% target which needs to be met by 2030.
No progress at all to be reported in Ireland as promises around Marine Protected Area legislation comes and goes 🐬

Every sane person would agree that Israel’s latest vile act is “horrible” AND “despicable” but real question is: what are we going to do about it?
Ireland is a major trading partner of this genocidal Apartheid state, are we going to finally break ALL ties?

'Removing this safeguard increases the risk of environmental harm & lower standards of environmental protection by hamstringing public interest environmental litigation...We also have a history of serious governance issues in planning, so restricting judicial oversight in this area would be unwise'
Read this, with particular focus on the last line.
No, absolutely none at all. It’s not as if aluminium were a vital component in drones, fighter jets and just about every weapon Russia possesses.

Spain, France and Italy refuse US military access to airspace and airports. All three are NATO members.
Meanwhile, the Irish Govnt hides behind the term 'militarily neutral', which is not just meaningless but intentionally deceptive.

'We’re dependent on partnerships both strategically and economically, and we have to play our part as being part of the gang.'
That the senior civil servant in the Dept of Defence would talk about 'being part of the gang' when it comes to EU common defence is v unsettling.
The proposals “constitute a radical curtailment of access to judicial review, and are likely to have a disproportionately negative impact on ordinary people that FLAC represent trying to establish and vindicate their legal constitutional or fundamental rights.."

"Less Than 1% of Public Bomb Shelters in Israel Are in Palestinian Communities"
Here's what it's like to be a Palestinian citizen of Israel during the Iran war, writes Zeteo contributor Diana Buttu.
A follower sent us this from Penrose dock.
This is unacceptable and dangerous.

Yep, completely agree with the above comment. Very kind of the farmer to allow access, but is such a shame there are no networks of public footpaths across farms and forests in Ireland, like there are in England.
High nitrogen levels in major Irish rivers concerning:
"Catchment nitrogen levels are markedly higher in east, south & southeast, compared to catchments in west & northwest.
"In both groups of catchments, nitrogen levels have increased in 2025, relative to 2024"
