Nein, nicht wirklich. Und mittlerweile habe ich in den FAQ versteckt einen Alternativweg gefunden... Wie machen sowas nur "normale" Leute?!

Ich weiß, dass irgendwelche ominösen Anbieter das schon lange anbieten. Aber hier ist es ein etabliertes Finanzinstitut, dass einem keine andere Wahl lässt als es so zu machen. Wow.

Das verstößt nicht nur explizit gegen die AGBs meiner Bank (und vermutlich der meisten Banken), es ist auch das exakte Gegenteil von dem, was als Security Best-Practice seid IMMER propagiert wird...

Habe ich was verpasst? Seid wann ist es denn normal geworden, bei Online-Ident Prozessen einem dritten Anbieter die Banking Logindaten zu geben, damit irgendwelche Cent-Beträge überwiesen werden können???? 🤯

High expectations, I have!

The best way to make them value your privacy, is to force them!

My two favorite things in life are coffee in the morning and going to bed knowing there will be coffee in the morning.

Why all this? Well, I have a phone setup now, were
- all my important data is fully in my control
- I control which apps get installed (no gatekeeper, no spy or bloatware)
- I'm not "forced" into relying on a single Company
- I can favour european companies
- I can replace my battery in like 2 min

That doesn't *feel* like this with the FP to me. So for the next bigger trip, I'll get a decent camera again. I'll lean into that and maybe redicover the fun of taking pictures with good UX (handling + buttons).

While the FP Camera seems good quality, the end result (computational photography) is not close as good as on a modern iPhone. It's not making bad pictures in any way, but
I convinced myself years ago, that I don't need semi-pro camera gear anymore, because with the iPhone I get good enough results.

So, what's not working / what do I miss? Not too much, but some things are still open to be replaced:

- Find my (I'll probably settle on Life360)
- DEVONthink (not on device, but Paperless seems the best alternative)
- ApplePay 😢
- Kamera...

The last one is my biggest issue. I suspected it already

Pretty much all of my apps/workflows/usecase are working similary good as before. Sometimes even better, sometimes slightly worse as on the iPhone, often you don't feel a difference at all.
Even the CMF Watch 3 Pro as a AppleWatch replacement is good enough for 90% of the things.

The @fairphone.com hardware is actually really nice and feels premium. The iPhone 16 Pro Max feels nicer, sure, but taking the different price tags into account, the FP is a really good deal. + I can throw in a 2TB SD card if I want...

Also, I'm starting to realize I don't need the best Smartphone!

The transition (specially after a long time in the Apple ecosystem) is work and takes some getting used to. And Apple is not really making it easy for you (try migrating your 100+ Reminders to Nextcloud...). Evaluating which apps work best for you requires some time, but is not really hard.

After a slow ramp up and getting used to, I switched from the iPhone to the @fairphone.com running with @murena-com.bsky.social (de-googled & OSS Android) 2 weeks ago. I'm surprise how comparible the overall experience is. I'm about to cancle my big AppleOne subscription this week. #nowayback

Today is probably a fine day to mention that I've been working on a self-hostable Discordslacklike called Chatto. It's steadily moving towards feature parity with the big kids, with everything crammed into a single compact 50 MB executable that can run off the cheapest VM you can find.

I have no real comparison, but I choose Fedora recently and can't complain. Not sure about nvidia things, though, mine is an AMD.

I heard omarchy is nice and has a charming leadership 💩
