The Eagles select Michigan edge rusher Brandon Graham with the 13th overall pick.
Few would have guessed (especially with some of his early struggles) that in eight years time, Graham would facilitate the greatest defensive play in franchise history.

With the 61st overall pick in the second round, the Eagles draft safety Brian Dawkins of Clemson.
Dawkins makes his first of 182 Eagles starts in Week 2 that season, paving his long road to Canton with seven Pro Bowls (in Philly) and four AP1s.

Wish his Philly tenure was longer than four years. Made three AP1s and three Pro Bowls in town, scoring 20 touchdowns as Randall Cunningham's most reliable target.

Super Bowl-winning head coach. Boisterous TV broadcaster. Namesake of the famed video game franchise.
Before all that, Cal Poly tackle Madden was a 1958 Eagles draft pick. However, a knee injury prematurely ended Madden's career, and diverted him into coaching.

"The Green Goblin" polarized scouts at the 2016 Combine, and went to the Eagles as a seventh round pick. Less than two years later, he was a starting corner on a Super Bowl champion.
Happy 57th birthday Andy Harmon
The Kent State powerhouse totaled 38.5 sacks between 1992-95, but persistent knee injuries ended his career at age 28. Harmon was the last Eagles DT to record 10+ sacks in a season until Fletcher Cox in 2018.

Donovan to DC
Donovan McNabb's 11-year tenure in Philly ends via Easter night trade to Washington, in exchange for draft picks.
Those picks (aided by subsequent trades with TB and HOU) yield Nate Allen in 2010 (meh), Casey Matthews in 2011 (ugh), ... and Nick Foles in 2012 (yup).

"The Breadman" has been an explosive force in the defensive interior, racking up sacks, hurries, and pressures at a high clip. His crucial sack of Matthew Stafford in the snow kept the Super Bowl LIX dream alive.

From seventh round project to imposing mobile fortress, Mailata has been a premier run blocker throughout the 2020s. Not a bad singer, either.
The Eagles may never have drafted Jason Kelce without veteran OL coach Howard Mudd.
New to Philly that season, Mudd saw something in Cincinnati's Kelce that Eagle evaluators didn't: elite field vision. Mudd saw the next Jeff Saturday in Kelce.
Philly took Kelce 191 overall. The rest is history.
5th. Mailata was 7th.
