I'm trying, man. I'm really trying. 😅

Completed both Absolum and Cronos: the New Dawn this week and man, both feel like major accomplishments. Great games, both of them, for different reasons and the idea that they aren't talked about more is a literal shame.
14. Streets of Rage 4 - 3 hrs
Everything I could have wanted from an new entry in one of my favorite beat 'em up series. The art & animations were like a cartoon come to life. The soundtrack was a banger. Gameplay was a blast. A love letter to Streets of Rage fans and I absolutely loved it.
It is! The original comic strip debuted in 1905, and it was groundbreaking, artistically. Look it up, it's quite a story!
Well, kind of the same thing really. The property has been in public domain for decades now as the original creator and his family are long gone, so anyone can make it. That's why Capcom made one in 1990, and a new studio made a new game property on it now.
On this week's episode I offer some ideas for games that should be on the SNES Classics Switch app: open.spotify.com/episode/7KkD...
A person wearing a 1930s pin stripe suit and hat is shooting a gun while riding on a flying car modelled after the cars of that era. The following quote is included: "Aether & Iron was the game I had only dreamt of prior to its release. It is a game that leads with evocative writing, flawlessly performed by a gutted voice cast, and set within an avant-garde world of compelling ideas."
Muster a crew, master tactical turn-based combat, and unravel the dark secrets lurking beneath the floating metropolis set in a Decopunk Narrative RPG set in an alternate 1930s.

I'm finding myself tempted to get a Super Everdrive, but it looks like I would have to get a working SNES console, which I do not have, and time to play it which I also do not have.
On this episode I talk about several NES games that never got highlighted on the show before: open.spotify.com/episode/6KYN...
If you like beat 'em ups, rogue-likes, fantasy and highly stylized character designs and art styles, then you should definitely be playing Absolum!
This week I go back to the NES for some games that were... not really what I expected: open.spotify.com/episode/5TqG...
I did love it. I thought he parsed the game very well. This video was the final confirmation that this was going to be an excellent title.
Some of you aren’t going to like this opinion, but Cronos: the New Dawn is good. It’s a good game.
Yep. Two cans with string connecting them at the ready. If that fails, it'll be smoke signals.
No new episode this week.
I have the script written, but illness is preventing me from recording.
Being a teacher for a day job means I get to be exposed to every stupid cold/flu/virus in the world. Sometimes they take hold.

Finally got a chance to listen. Was hoping for a stinger for The Bouncer when you mentioned it. Great episode!
I'm back from the Holidays and I'm talking about my time with the Mega Man series: open.spotify.com/episode/22ue...
Against good advice to the contrary and because absolutely no one asked for it… looks like I’ll have more games to talk about in 2026.
I really cannot overstate how much I’m enjoying Sea of Stars.
Couple of quick hits from games:
Played Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors. Beat it in 3 hours. What an absolute blast of a game!
Played some of Sea of Stars. Already loving it. Reminds me a lot of Chrono Trigger, even if all the beats aren't the same.
Hey, dear listeners. Due to real life schedules and obligations, I won’t be able to get a new episode out until after the New Year. Thanks for your patience and I’ll see you in January.
Something new for Castlevania
Chrono Trigger Remake OR sequel
Dino Crisis Remake
Fallout: New Vegas 2
Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone 2
Nightmare Creatures 3
Ravenloft: Stone Prophet Remake
Wasteland 4
Final Fantasy IX Remake
A truly scary werewolf-themed game (think "The Howling")
Since the Keighley Awards are tomorrow, here are some wild picks for trailers I would like to see at the show:
The Evil Within 3
Dead Space 2 Remake
Some kind of Wild West/horror title - think RDR2 but scary as hell
Baldur's Gate 4
Mega Man Legends Remake
Brutal Legend 2
Arcanum: oSaMO Remake
Hey, listeners. Likely no new episode this week. I have it ready to record, but the wife and I got super sick in the last few days so recording is not happening right now. I'll get it out as soon as I can. Thank you.
New episode of Side Quests out now! Phil from @deletedsaves.bsky.social is back and this time he is talking about Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Go listen!
Thanks again to @funandgamespod.bsky.social and @djstormageddon.com for letting me ramble about this ol’ PS1 title!
