New arrival! Weโre excited to share that two African Cape porcupines have joined us and can now be found in Zoo's Boise Gorongosa National Park section.
As they settle into this new home, they may take time to adjust. If youโd like to see them, be patient and quiet around their habitat.
There's always time for more Phred.
It's not all for Phred; he was just the first to the buffet while his pals slept in.
We present you with prairie dog Phred really enjoying his salad. ๐ฅ

A male prehensile-tailed porcupine gnaws on a wooden stick while sitting on a branch in a zoo habitat.
Porcupine Ozzy's healthy dental habit: he likes to chew on sticks to help keep his continuously growing teeth in good condition! Not quite like humans flossing after a meal, Ozzy's routine is more like us filing our fingernails.

A female warthog stands in wet dirt in an outdoor zoo yard.
Dig it! Warthog Makena has 'decorated' her own yard, using her long tusks to dig holes she can relax in. These holes turn into mud pits and are Makena's favorite places to wallow around in and keep cool.
A male white-handed gibbon sits on a tree stump while vocalizing.
๐ฃ Make some noise! What are the odds Papa Gibbon (a.k.a. Euhl) starts singing along with the music during Treefort Music Fest this week?

A male Steller's sea eagle opens his beak to squawk.

Best comment so far!!

What are those birds with funky mustaches who live with the penguins?
They are Inca terns, a coastal bird found in Ecuador, Chile, and Peru. Their signature white โmustachesโ arenโt just for looks. The length and fullness of these feathers can actually be an indicator of health.
