To Starmer's credit, he doesn't seem to be panicking. This is the right approach. His outriders should stick to their line and point out that the country doesn't need monthly leadership contests like under the last Tory govt, no more clown cars, etc. If he survives, he comes out stronger.

No conspiracy - standard operating practice. Papers hold stories for key moments - for example, upcoming elections - and drop them then because they know the politicians will panic and prolong the story = sales. It's no coincidence these things happen in the cycle.

I paid into the LGPS before the rules changed back in about 2000. I was in it for about 10 minutes (a year and a bit). It will be paying the equivalent of over 10% of the state pension but from 60 or something. Wish I'd stayed in that job for a few more weeks now! Best value ever.

And I know it doesn't need saying but the UK pension is ridiculously low. Even the new one, which I'll get, which is more than the current one which is even more ridiculously low.

I hate to be a smug twat but it's one of my few skills... Paid my NI class 2 contributions before the deadline to give me almost full UK pension, plus the same again here, plus a couple of tiny bits and I'm basically ready but 100% more luck than judgment!
