One takeaway from this survey is that Democrats are more patriotic and generally like all of America, while Republicans hate much of America and only like the parts they think are Republican. Mainstream media and bipartisan political leadership would have you believe the opposite.

“The New York Times collaborated with a white nationalist eugenicist hacker and agreed to keep his identity a secret to publish a Zohran Mamdani hit piece” is a way bigger story than “18 year old Zohran Mamdani ticked ‘African American’ on his Columbia application because he was a citizen of Uganda”

And both get far, far less coverage than “Trump and Musk pull aid to Africa, estimated death toll of over 20 million” because no South Sudanese refugee ever invited Jake Tapper to a cocktail party.

Voorhis resisted all encouragement toward a business or management career, much to his father's disappointment.[7] While attending Yale, he came to believe that "the Christian Gospel is to be taken seriously, and that needless poverty and suffering on the one hand and special privilege and inordinate power on the other are entirely contrary to its precepts".[8] He later stated that he lacked the faith in his own judgment to leave Yale and get a job in "the real world [which] lay beyond the college walls".[9] However, once he graduated, Voorhis engaged a room at a boarding house and went to work as a receiving clerk, a job he soon exchanged for one as a freight handler. Later in 1923, he was laid off.[10] In 1923 and 1924, he served as a traveling representative for the YMCA in Germany,[4] though his stay was cut short by illness.[5] Suffering from pneumonia, Voorhis spent six weeks recovering in a London nursing home.[11]
Charles Voorhis's job with Nash had taken him to a new home in Kenosha, Wisconsin; Jerry Voorhis joined his parents there on his return from Europe. As part of his recovery from his illness, he spent several weeks in northwestern Wyoming, working on a ranch. In Kenosha, he met a social worker named Alice Louise Livingston and married her on November 27, 1924, in her hometown of Washington, Iowa.[12] Resuming his blue-collar career after his marriage, Voorhis moved to North Carolina with his wife and went to work in a Ford plant in Charlotte until being offered work as a teacher in an Illinois school for underprivileged boys, teaching three grades, coaching sports, and giving religious talks in the school's chapel each morning. This was followed by a year in Laramie, Wyoming, where the Voorhises founded and ran an orphanage for boys.[1][13]

The thing is, if you want to, you can do things. Congressman and living 🗿 Jerry Voorhis, famous for losing to Nixon, graduated from Yale and decided to live the Christian gospel by working as a freight receiver and a Ford manufacturer. If you feel guilty over your PMC job, nothing’s stopping you!

There is a great shame among liberals and leftists alike that they do not work low wage factory jobs or live in rural towns because that is Real America, and their PMC jobs just make them sissy cosmopolitans. This is also pretty gendered too.

El Salvador is a lot like apartheid South Africa, or modern Russia and Israel, in that they have fostered connections with the American Right, which even when out of power is more powerful than a lot of countries, and also that their leaders need to slowly be fed into a paper shredder.

obviously Bukele is not going to willingly give them back, he's using them as slave labor. so like, what are we gonna do? Invade El Salvador? Sanction them? Like what's the plan here?

For a brief moment, their fake performance of accountability threatened to become real accountability, and the party reacted by panickedly reversing course

Well, friend, I regret to inform you that you’re a naive full and Democrats benefited more from moving on and advancing their kitchen-table agenda, which won them many votes, as history has shown

Do you think the country could have benefited from an expansive investigation into all the ways Trump committed treason while public anger over Jan. 6 was still white-hot and Trump remained a pariah?

1 year ago 432 36 4 0

The moment you should have realized who these people were, but apparently did not, was during Trump’s second impeachment, when Senate Dems literally accidentally won a vote to call witnesses and transform the Jan 6 trial into Watergate 2.0… and then reversed it, because they wanted to move on

1 year ago 1280 211 25 17

Today the biggest split among Democrats is between those who want to stand and fight and those who want to play dead.

House Democrats united to stand and fight. Too many Senate Democrats played dead.

We need more leaders from the stand and fight wing of the Democratic Party.
