I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

Growing up with goofy after-school special shows aimed at kids constantly talked about peer pressure and how "everyone's doing it" was not a good enough argument to (do drugs, sex, whatever) and just seeing AI bros "everyone's using AI to write/make music/art/research, no really trust me" is 🥴

This is your periodic reminder that Democrats introduced legislation in 2021 to ban gerrymandering nationwide and every republican voted against it except two who were absent.

Yanno, I was wondering whether any other Alleged Humans get stupid horny at this time of year... hundreds or thousands of years of fertility festivals across cultures should have made the answer far more obvious.

He thinks George Washington was "woke".

Vaccinating the US Army predates the United State of America.

1. Boy, Amazon is in a heap of trouble. Evidence made public yesterday by California AG @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov shows blatant price fixing. And there are so many examples. Here's Amazon scheming with a pet food supplier to get Chewy to raise its prices.

"AI is 2000s autotune" -- I've never identified with something so deeply

Huh. I was not aware of a recommended booster and will have to investigate if I had that!

👏 Canada 👏 Post 👏 is 👏 a 👏 public 👏 service 👏

Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.

Your phone will never take a good photo of the moon except for this one rare exception.

this is it right here. AI violates Vonnegut's number 1 rule for writers: "Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted." AI shifts the burden of effort from the writer onto the reader/audience and that is unacceptable

Not solo, but also a formative memory making me unflappable re:travel mayhem: my father told us to wait while he checked something on the train and it left with him on it (no cellphones). Mom rolled her eyes, found an English-speaking clerk, rebooked on faster train; we beat him there.

My mom has A Face she makes when I'm making one of those decisions. She's not always correct but i wish I'd realized the meaning of The Face earlier.

Sometimes i ask for something that is easily affordable but i just cannot be arsed to shop for. I do not want to dig through all the different options available for a bluetooth to FM adapter [for previous car]. I need this specific hard to find shape of earbuds/size of steering wheel cover.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

I saw the headlines this poll got and figured there was a screw loose somewhere. Glad to see I was right.

Don't simply believe polls you see! They are very easy to be used to mislead.

Anne Hathaway bought the rights to a novel about a tradwife influencer who wakes up in 1855 and has to actually live the life she's been selling online. The book is called Yesteryear. It came out 3 days ago. The film rights were already sold to Hathaway, who will produce and star.

Your near daily reminder that calling and emailing and being fucking annoying to your reps, regardless of party, changes shit. It does and it will.

Ah jeez, it's just a little part of responding to a tumblr writing prompt, but commenting about human support is in part 1, www.tumblr.com/adaginy/6899..., commenting about femininity is in part 2.

I believe that in order to take some small step forward, the word “bird” should be replaced with “saur” in all common names. Mockingsaur. Secretarysaur. Red-winged blacksaur.

one thing I keep explaining to people is you do not even understand what extreme losers these guys are- when you call them "dangerous" it makes them feel cool, because their entire lives and formative years the only adjectives they ever heard about themselves were "loser" and "joke"

Today I am grateful I decided to put on garden gloves, even though they were wet and cold, before mucking out my trench compost bed. Compost was also wet and cold (it should not be -- ) and was gross and stinky (-- or else that happens).

Even though nothing appeared alive last year, and even though I set a fire in that raised bed for weed control, one of my raspberry plants is alive.

So much of the church I grew up in almost universally told us that what God wanted for us was “fine”. Settle for that person in your church, be content in your job, etc. etc. If you wanted romance, enthusiasm, excitement even, you had to be careful because that could become an “idol”. I’ve learned that so much of the pressure to settle for “fine” is actually intended to get people to accept a prescription for their life that doesn’t fit. And what’s worse is it’s given by people who don’t fit that prescription themselves.
