My 9yo daughter is 55% through Algebra I.

She has completed high school physics and is 76% through high school chemistry.

She leads the way in her education and jokes about catching up with her 17yo brother.

Too bad the Science-Hater RFK Jr. is in charge of science funding. That predatory lawyer is focused on undermining the science that has been getting in the way of his profiteering lies these past many years. He’s setting the stage for his next round of sacrificing lives to his worthless greed.

That is an astute observation. I would also recommend looking at the results of Spain having the opposite policy. Their growth rate is higher than ours, because they are regularizing their immigrants to be able to work openly legally.

Third time was not the charm. Early January, my paper was rejected by a 3rd journal, this time w/o reviewer comments. I have submitted to a 4th journal. Preprint here: osf.io/preprints/so... #AcademicWriting #UBI #Economics #philosophy

My 9yo completed 8th grade math last week and is already 27% of the way through Algebra I.

She has completed high school physics and is 51% of the way through high school chemistry.

She leads the way in her education proudly.

If someone is in government housing long enough, they should gain ownership of it and the government should use what rent they get to restore abandoned properties and build new themselves. The rich world is rich enough that there should be no one with a home that doesn’t want to be.

I disagree with the sort of price controls on rent that you are discussing because we need more housing built by government and everyone. Rent is fungible over long enough time windows if enough housing is made available as it currently is not.

If that is the only issue that you have, then you should be a full-throated supporter. Yes, there are elements of the economy that a UBI will not fix, but for those on the margins, even a marginal amount would be life-changing. The housing crisis will need other solutions.

This is a classic bit of Latin here.

For who else needs to hear it, no, I am not doing well. It’s okay to step back, take a breather, and circle back. Dissension does not require exhaustion. #SelfCare

RFK Jr is a predatory lawyer maneuvering to predate on those smarter and better than himself. Find an unpopular industry or group with deep pockets and then sow distrust so that you can raid them with impunity. Now, he has received patronage to advance that goal. Fueled ochlocracy by a kakistocracy.

The Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend has shown the efficacy of one since 1982. Hopefully, the rest of the country can follow its lead. The most effective, secure investment is the most diversified. It doesn’t get more diversified than everyone. #UBI #UniversalWealth

It’s more profitable to the whole economy to let peaceful people live and work freely. A more vibrant economy will enrich everyone more. Government agencies and businesses benefiting from impoverishment would be better off in a richer, freer economy, also.

A lively and festive Louisiana-themed scene celebrating “The Glorious 8th.” A small band with one accordion player and one fiddle player performs traditional Louisiana music while people joyfully dance in the background. Tables are adorned with iconic Louisiana dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, and beignets. Banners reading “The Glorious 8th” and American flags decorate the setting, with historical references to the Battle of New Orleans enhancing the festive atmosphere. The image captures a vibrant celebration of Louisiana’s cultural and culinary heritage.

Just ate some boudin in celebration of the Glorious 8th. I stand firm that the anniversary of the Victory of the Battle of New Orleans should be celebrated every year with good Louisiana food. Without this victory, this food would not be American food. #cajun #creole #BattleOfNewOrleans #Glorious8th

Diversity makes our country richer. The success of that diversity at The Battle of New Orleans was the early demonstration of that. Had that victory not taken place, the Hartford Convention might have forced a smaller, poorer nation in the name of being less diverse. #DiversityEnriches

In my family, we celebrate the Glorious 8th, the anniversary of the victory at the Battle of New Orleans.

I’m currently rewriting the section on the martyrdom of Ignaz Semmelweis in my book Beyond Survival, framing it as the collision of his Weltschmerz with the pervasive nescience of the medical community.

… and should be careful advocating anything implying otherwise. Thank you for the engagement. If you have the opportunity please read the paper I wrote. The policy proposal in it is national instead of global, but the metaphysical insights are still very relevant to what you are advocating here.

A wealth tax continues to promote the idea the persistence of poverty is beneficial through the ancient metaphysical idea that poverty creates wealth communicated by Aristophanes in his play Plutus. Hopefully, I was able to convey how wrong that idea is. We are all better off ending poverty…

3 months ago 1 0 1 0

That said, since poverty itself is a drag on the economy to the tune of 1-1.5%, those most invested in the economy stand to gain significantly from the end of poverty. A drag on the economy equivalent to poverty is taxation which also reduces economic growth to the tune of 1-1.5%.

As the graph of 1/x demonstrates, the same constant level of enrichment provides a benefit approaching infinity for those with income otherwise closest to zero and provides the least direct benefit to those with the most.

3 months ago 1 0 1 0

The last two could work, but the idea of a wealth tax comes from a metaphysical error that would destroy the idea of maintained. The belief that individual enrichment must come at someone else’s expense is exactly wrong. Enriching anyone enriches everyone participating in the economy.

Sell non voting, non transferable shares in such a fund that provides a firm financial foundation for the world. The math and metaphysics for this sort of idea is better than one generally encounters. The rest is politics.

A sustained investment in ending poverty turbocharges economic growth enriching everyone. Providing returns from something like this in the form of direct basic income as GiveDirectly does would be effective. Framing it as donations though obscures the reality of the investment.

Yesterday I learned a new word:
Nescience (noun)

Not ignorance from lack of information,
but ignorance maintained despite available evidence.

For knowledge to be accepted, simple ignorance must not be deemed culpable. Nescience is.

I am massaging the presentation to convey Semmelweis’s belief that the trip to experience Venetian art is what made him able to recognize that physician hands needed to be disinfected after handling cadavers before delivering babies to avoid killing mothers and newborns. #writersky
