They are but sometimes I don't see any and sometimes I see lots.

I'm cheering you on! I hope you meet some good dogs on your walk today.
But today is a new day. And you have a checklist. I hope it turns out better.
Everything you talk about re early years resonates with me re teaching HE
I don’t even think that initial statement is true for secondary or HE where I taught. It’s a powerful narrative that makes teachers nervous about their expertise and feeds imposter syndrome. But it’s not accurate.
An update from my very occasional newsletter, on plural AI futures and previewing some new @carefultrouble.bsky.social research with the Data Labelers' Association buttondown.com/justenoughin...
I think that means success!!
That sounds grim. best Wishes for the appointment and follow ip
Good plan. I know someone who has a whole tbr bookcase.
🧵 I think this is connected to what I shared the other day about the difficulty “being” without doing or creating which @friede.bsky.social was reflecting on.
Agree wholeheartedly
I picked this up in a previous sale and really enjoyed it. I then binged the series to which it is a prequel which I hadn't read since it was first published (???). I dunno, it had been a while, and I might never have read it all.
I enjoyed the whole thing.
Yep. We might not be able to fix the big stuff but we can make things better for some small number of people. Focusing on that is remarkably reassuring.
I can sometimes do this with china patterns. I worked in a china shop 40 years ago! I can definitely distinguish a Wedgwood teacup from a Royal Doulton.
Yes. I don’t think it’s one person. I think there are a bunch of them. And they’ve made promises to someone. Mandelson wasn’t hanging out with E for the girls.

This whole thing is making me wonder what they are really afraid will come out. there is a bad smell that isn’t completely explained by what we know so far.
There are still a few spaces in my intensive summer book workshop, Crafting Your Scholarly Book. (And I've extended my steepest early-bird discount through May 1st.) The live meetings will be in the evening in the US and in the morning in East Asia. tiliaeditorial.com/crafting-your-scholarly-book
solidarity. This sucks.
it is so frustrating. Like you I have people that only seem to be there.
I have a friend who has never arrived at her local (small) airport that they weren’t already calling her name on the PA. Her partner refuses to drive her to the airport.
😩
😩 words have meaning!!
Knowing roughly the age of your son, I’d say this is developmentally appropriate.
Also one of the hardest parts of parenting is realising some people need to learn things the hard way. Sorry if you were collateral damage in this experiment
Yes. It’s like refereeing a playgrounds argument. “i don’t care who started it. Stop.“
Walks like a duck. Quacks like a duck.
A really thought provoking reflection on the pressure to judge our worth (own and others) by what we do or what we create.
A very good question.
I remember a friend chose “be” or “being” as her word of the year one new year as a way take a year exploring what it might mean to just be.
It’s not easy to escape the powerful doing creating narrative
A very informative, well-informed thread. Long but worth reading in full.
I think #1 a lot in relation to air travel in the context of climate change.
