But academia isn’t ready for this. Those who get one grant keep getting it forever. It’s seen as a measure of success. The way to further open the gap between competitors. “The candidate doesn’t have previous grants” is the most ridiculous justification not to give the next one. Forever loser.

Wrong. Absolutely wrong move. With increasing number of applications, what we need is a basic scientific quality and feasibility check, then lottery. Writing full proposal, interview etc all are absolute rubbish. The outcome is only slightly better than chance. It’s waste of everyone’s time.
Thank God, er zat mosterd in kleine zakjes, maar dat zag ik eerst niet.
Lekker middageten at a Dutch event 🤦🏽😬
We tested an idea: how does participation consistency affect ally perceptions? Well, allies are perceived positively across the board, but this becomes less positive if their participation in movement are inconsistent or gradually decline. A great work with great colleagues.
Eid mubarek to Muslims around the world. I have very little hope, but for the near future, I am looking forward to celebrating Eid in Free Palestine and Free Iran, and Free Arab world - free from all colonial powers.
I decided to remove my final lecture "How to improve intergroup relations" - I talk about recategorisation, contact theory etc. To be honest, at the peak of this global invasion, I no longer believe any of these theories to make a difference. We need sane leaders to start with for anything to work.

The moment you watch the sun set from another corner of the world, something in you has already changed, even if you do not yet have the words for it.
Nick Hornby is a genius.
Oman has a unique architecture. The mosques are particularly gorgeous. Maybe the most beautiful ones in the world. So impressive.

He is my future husband. One day we’ll come back to look at this post together and laugh. He is incredible.
More Ramadan beauty: kibbeh, Turkish style.
A very Turkish touch to Ramadan dinners: Güllaç😍
What a cool paper. Emegine saglik.
Two papers from google scholar, both published in 2025 and cited 10 times.
Two of my PhD students' first papers from their projects were both published in 2025 - and they both hit 10th citations each. It's so nice to see them doing impactful research that counts.
I agree that the second point is more controversial - and there is an article that informs my decision academic.oup.com/isq/article-...
I will defend my first point to the grave :) merely saying "first author is queer, second author is hetero, third author is disabled" adds nothing... what are the power dynamics among these people? how did this affect the research process? how did this affect the final product? I want to know that.
Please stop writing positionality statements. Most positionality statements are simply disclosure of identities of authors. There's no point disclosing them without telling how they were intertwined with the research process. In this format, they are simply a product of coloniality.
For those, who want to know about Ramadan, here is a quick fact sheet. When you see your Muslim colleagues, you can wish them "Ramadan Kareem" or "Ramadan Mubarek" - and you don't need to act any differently around them. ing.org/resources/fo...
Ramadan Kareem to all my Muslim friends around the world. I hope you manage to pass this month with inner peace, social connections, & spiritual awakening. For those who live apart from their families, Ramadan can be a lonely month. I extend my invitation to you for an iftar dinner I'll cook. DM me.
Édouard Louis deserves all the praise he gets. His insights are brilliant. His writing is simple looking well crafted genuis. His tone is poignant. I read him with tears in my eyes.
Pillion was okay. It was fun to watch. Much much more could have had happened.
I am going to the cinema at 9.30pm tonight. I think I will take a nap after dinner so that I can handle it.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
What's the fuzz about the new Epstein files? Nothing is going to change in our lives other than knowing that there's no limit to evil. Nobody will be charged or punished.
It’s so difficult to read Sara Ahmed. I want to underline literally every statement. How brilliantly she writes and manages to deliver deep meaning with each word. So relevant and so encompassing. I want to be her.
*How do you *even* respond to that?
