My gf loves RetroAchievements because it makes her replay old favorites in ways she never played them before. Doesnt mind games with no achievements, but if they do, thats a bonus.

My friend calls it "Dad Space", he loves it.

At this point I can't really just point to single games as favorites, or having best of this or best of that. Because it's simply just no longer the case for me personally. With a few exceptions, really.

Love me some Eviternity, even if I'm not a big fan of ogDoom, they are a beaut with those vivid colors. Though by the final episode of each Eviternity, it basically becomes Serious Sam. Which arguably what nuDoom did with The Dark Ages as well.

I rather have 25 material slots with 256k textures than 4 slots with 8k autogenerated atlased textures.

My problem with the #VRChat optimization problem is that the performance ratings are still the same as years ago and doesn't amount for correct optimization, and still pushing wrong methods. If my avatar's full VRAM load size is barely 40MB, it shouldn't be very poor.

The other day I realized that I was a Sonic fan, once was a Homestuck fan, also a weeb who likes being an anime girl in VRChat, among many other things and thank goodness I'm also not into MLP or being a furry or something else because I can only handle so much autism.

You know I just wanted to live a normal life, where I grow up, get a good job, a place to live, maybe even friends and family, then grow old, be happy that I achieved the bare minimum and all that.

Not that I won't still achieve that, but still. Way different than I was told.

One of the weirdest bits of ingrained Steam Consumer Culture is declaring that any game that hasn't been updated in a few months to be 'dead'. Even if it's a fully complete single-player game.

This is doubly weird because I *WANT* to play the final, locked-down version and static of any SP game.

Maybe its just me but it feels very lonely sometimes to talk about barely known niche or very old games that nobody cares about anymore. And I think many have this same fear of their identity game falling into irrelevance.

It's really is that sports team mentality, both from the perspective of "wanting my community to grow and flourish" and "I dont want the money I put into it feel like a waste." And even besides, even singleplayer games have a social aspect, in wanting to talk about games where others also know them.

Yeah I'm sure both my parents are, but they'd deny it, and at the same time can be insufferable because they aren't self aware about it. My father is a genius who can master anything and doesnt understand that others cant. My mother is extremely weird socially, same as me, but she never realized it.

Correction, I was informed that you are indeed correct that Build engine is a portal-based engine and all walls are essentially portals, as opposed to Doom's BSP based approach, which is why Build engine can overlap sectors, but Doom can't.

Technically ceilings and floors are True Room Over Room, which is an Eduke32 feature, not a default Build feature.

And the walls thing is more just leveraging the fact that the engine is technically 2D and different sectors can essentially occupy the same physical space afaik.

I can't draw at all, but I have characters I created for VRChat using Blender, tho based on a base model not made by me originally, but in the last 7 years I slowly replaced bits Ship of Theseus style, and nowadays I started tracing these characters to look 2d, I dont call it art but its something??
