So, my grandmother needs your help. What happened? Around September 6th of 2024, my 91 year old grandmother was hospitalized because of an infected wound on her face that went into sepsis. I ended up footing the bill for this despite my status as an unemployed university student and lost a good chunk of my life savings in the process. Unfortunately, even if she recovered from the sepsis, the doctors believe she caught pneumonia from the hospital during her stay. She came home on September 13th but had to return to the hospital on September 19th because of lung complications. She was discharged again during September 24th and we thought she was on her way to recovery but on October 18th, her blood oxygen levels began to drop again and she was brought back to the hospital where she’s still staying to this day. Since then, a mountain of bills have piled up— medical and non-medical included. It’s starting to become increasingly difficult to keep up with them the longer that she stays in the hospital.

So, my grandmother needs your help. Who’s asking? I’m Skai, an artist and a VN dev. Usually, I would prefer to open emergency commissions and not disclose too many details about the situation beyond a quick summary of it. This time, though, I’ve come to accept the reality that time is not on my side and I can’t juggle commissions and promotion with the work that I have to do for my majors in university on top of being the sole caretaker of another disabled elderly person in my home. I had to pick a lane, social media or my degree, and I obviously had to choose my degree. This is why I’ve finally decided to ask for donations to hopefully help us through these trying times.

So, my grandmother needs your help. How to help? Even just sharing this around is a big thing if you don’t have money to spare but if you do, you can donate to my ko-fi page. I’ll provide a link. I would have made a GoFundMe but I just recently found out that they don’t support it in my country. Anyway, we learn to make do.
