BBC headline: Michael Jackson film is a 'whitewash' and 'ghoulish', critics say
So pretty much in keeping with its subject, then…
Saw it and thought “There’s a man with a large unexpected tax bill.”
Also, “pédocriminalité” is a great word (that what it describes, not so much - at all, in case that’s not clear). Can we pinch and anglicise it? Usage: “Michael Jackson was without doubt guilty of paedocriminality.”
I'm not sure my French is good enough to understand the full subtleties of Libé's review of the Michael Jackson biopic

Figured it out. And I have form for getting it right. Somehow “Potts’s” little chat with Howard Stark in 1970 leads to Tony having a very different upbringing, maybe even being called Victor instead, and being a very different person. What happens after that (how he ends up in 1968), not sure.
Apparently it’s a done deal. Whether they’ll be able to make another sequel as good as the first though… plus it’ll be the now pro-Trump Ellison-owned Paramount doing it so I’m not sure we’ll want to support it..

And any of my countryfolk knowingly deciding to vote for surrendering yet more of our culture to English millionaires who would be happier if we all died are clearly a bigger threat to our nation than any immigrant.
What sank Johnson in the end was not so much what he'd done but that his MPs got sick of being sent out to defend it.
I’m obviously not the target audience! Plus we Gen X men already got the sequel to one of THE films of our generation… 😂
Today I turn 89. I’ve seen this country at its best and its worst, and I know how much community matters. For my birthday, I’m asking you to stand with PFLAG and support the work that’s helped so many in the LGBTQ+ community, including me. give.pflag.org/page/95493/d...

The economic damage caused by Brexit may be almost double the 4% impact assumed by the OBR, the Resolution Foundation has revealed.
I’ve never seen Practical Magic. My impression was it was one of those long-forgotten films that didn’t do THAT well, certainly not a high point for Bullock or Kidman. Never noticed anyone raving about it on social media. Was it actually this phenomenon all along, or is Hollywood just out of ideas?

I think it’s something about the glasses.
Actually… 🤔
As a reminder
- No, you can’t accuse another MP of lying in the Commons
- Yes, it is broadly sensible that MPs can’t just stand up and accuse each other of lying
- Yes, there is a substantive process that can be used if an MP is felt to have misled the House
- Yes MPs know what the rules are

Is it me or is his expression just a bit… Dariaesque?
Absolutely incredible.

I think part of Orban's calculation was:
1. He can come back in a few years when Magyar doesn't make everything perfect
2. If he did try to overturn the election, he knew there was a good chance he'd end up like Nicolae Ceaușescu
3. Republicans in the US don't worry about #2
