Walked past this memorial today at Hyde Park Corner. Charles Wheeler was considered as a sculptor for Briadcasting House but after some internal machinations by those involved on the BBC side, it was Eric Gill who won the commission. More on this in Palace of the Ether, out in June.

A row of books, spine end on, by Ngaio Marsh
I have finished working my way through Ngaio Marsh. Who next? I’ve done Christie and Sayers.
Am a big fan of Sharp. Love his vituperative prose & contempt for the garden city.
Wonderful #WilliamNicholson exhibition at #PallantHouse. Recommend.
Final entry on my #WHM thread. The honours go to Matrix’s germinal 1984 book - so important in the British context. Wrote about it here: womenwritingarchitecture.org/annotation/e...
Penultimate book in my #WHM thread Gillian Darley’s 1990 study of Octavia Hill. Hill being an exemplar of the diverse ways women have historically shaped the built & natural environment.
Another great book from 1997 for today’s #WHM thread & includes Susan Henderson’s germinal work on Grete Schütte Lihotzky
May I draw attention to this (it’s also preceded by a workshop for students/ECRs organised by @thesahgb.bsky.social networks:

Today I’m highlighting this very recent publication for my #WHM thread. Packed to the gills with entries on architect women & part of a long tradition of not diminishing their work.
Today’s #WHM book is by Louise Campbell & was published in 2019.
#WHM today a different sort of landscape, that of social welfare reform - - wonderful book from 2014
Thankful to @alcs.co.uk for my March distribution. Always interested to see what’s been copied. This time it’s my 2016 chapter on the neo-geo & modernism (in NeoGeo Arch - a Reappraisal, eds Holder & McKellar). Thanks to those who read it & my other work & troubled to ensure ALCS was notified.
A super book from a super project for today’s #WHM thread. @liverpooluni.bsky.social
My attention turns to this excellent 1996 book by Diane Ghirado for today’s #WHM book.
So I see, having just checked abebooks - one for the pension fund!
Seeing the work of Charlotte Benton today for my #WHM thread. Key person in the OU’s germinal architectural history programme - this is from a 1995 RIBA Heinz Gallery exhib.
Mary McLeod’s work on Charlotte Perriand is always insightful - great edited volume for 2003 for today’s #WHM post.
From a groundbreaking recent book to one from 1981 & key to the process of what I call “decentring” the architect from architectural history - bringing material feminists into the light. #WHM
#WHM an outstanding book from 2022 - key insights into how architecture is shaped by periodical culture. @manchesterup.bsky.social
Hope you’re mentioning Elizabeth Denby too!
Forward to 1996 for this edited volume - #WHM - published by Harry N Abrams, who also published Friedman’s Women & the Making … there’s a noticeable decrease in the variety of publishers for architectural history as we move to the present.
Thought I’d go for Gillian Naylor today & her important step towards not always believing the Bauhaus mythology. #WHM
Continuing the housing theme of #WHM thread. A not much mentioned gem from 1991.
Half way through my #WHM thread so two for the price of one today! The mighty Alison Ravetz.
Also in Bedford, visited the Panacea Museum. It’s fascinating & so worth a visit.
From 2001, this is today’s #WHM book- an exploration of women in Australian architecture.
