Something else that seems cruel about this stretch is fringe players like MJ Melendez & Craig Kimbrel, who didn’t make the team, being there in critical situations. That & all the out of position players. Sigh.
OMG. We’re living in a bizarre punishment/cruelty experiment:
1 Losing daily;
2 zero O, no “run prevention;”
3 No signs of hope, entire team failing;
4 Key injuries;
5 Getting kicked hard by ex-Mets; &
6 Horrible weather.

I don’t know, Francine. IMO, this is 💯 on the players. It’s not like their problems stem from discretionary managing decisions. It’s that not one single player, starter or bench, is hitting. To break out, they’ve gotta hit. Mendy can’t do that for them.

For the silver linings file, a shout-out to Devin Williams for serving up that late-inning grand slam. It spared us the humiliation of having ex-Met Edwin Diaz come in to finish off his old team & get the save for the Dodgers.
