Final note: @ukhsa.bsky.social would have by far the best data on this for both the XBB ∆ORF78 period & the current BA.3.2 period, but they do not share any age data with their sequences.
Maybe @theo.io, @peacockflu.bsky.social, or someone else with UKHSA connections could look into this for us?

Ontario primarily sequences samples from the elderly (>50% from 80+) so the numbers in the young are small. Still, we seem the same BA.3.2 pattern:
BA.3.2 is only 6.5% of all seqs but 50% of seqs from ages 5-11 & >20% for 0-4 & 12-19.
All credit to @paullmma.bsky.social for sharing this data.

Something as important as a vital means of preventing yourself from becoming infected the government should be talking about.
Please read this thread ⬇️
The meningococcal bacteria *is* transmitted via aerosols but thankfully not viable in the air for very long (typically only a few minutes).
But at close range, airborne/aerosol mitigations (eg. FFP masks) should be used to protect.

Health officials are even actively telling people NOT to wear a mask to protect themselves because they can “create the wrong message” and “spread panic”.
If there is even a chance of AEROSOL transmission, this could be extremely dangerous advice.

So, you would enter a hospital ward without any respiratory protection where you know there are people with an active N. meningitidis infection without any problem.
Ok.
And what is your conclusion?
These scientific articles say that under certain circumstances, it remain viable and infectious for many hours, and that one of the transmission routes is airborne. This means use of masks in addition to the usual pharmacological measures (vaccines, antibiotics), to contain the outbreak.
Have you read the scientific articles about the survival of Neisseria Meningitidis outside the body and its ways of transmission, that I sent you on this thread?
This is the thread in Bluesky

Nightclub owner at centre of meningitis outbreak says “something isn’t making sense”.
“There's been a lot of talk about how hard it is to transmit…
…but actually, it was transmitted a LOT more easily, by the looks of it, than they're suggesting.”

Tweet demonstrating criminal alteration of official information material on airborne transmission of Meningitis, by WHO and the United Kingdom.
It is even more sinister when there is an institutional cover-up about the airborne transmission mode, identical to that of SARS-CoV-2.

Airborne and some serotypes are viable up to 72h outside of the body if there are favorable humidity and temperature conditions.
