First time I've restored a serger - this thing is pretty nifty. Singer Quantumlock 4.. a luxury model from the late 80s/early 90s.
Now, I've gotta find good reasons to use it besides hankies and cleaning up my seam-ripping escapades. 🐱 Ideas? #sewing #crafting #diy
My condolences! I've got a bunch of those Brothers (VX, LS, etc) .. and they definitely weren't shy about using plastic, thin/fragile parts, etc. Some of them simply can't be resurrected, whereas most vintage machines will survive centuries with little more than oil and care.
Some new-to-me Kenmores on the bench today. All metal. I'm told they're like Bernina, but without the pricetag. I'm excited to get them fixed up!

I made a Discord + Peertube server so that I can help people with sewing machine repairs, crafts, etc. Easier to do there where there aren't message limits. 🐱 All my video escapades are going to be coordinated through there.
I've got a Bu Supernova that I'm restoring to be my mid weight daily driver, a special machine that thing is. 🐱. I'm gonna start doing a recorded video format instead of live, so there will be episodes soon.
West coast, sadly, otherwise I'd happily clean it up and find it a new home. I do find many curbed that are easily restored! Antique Singers are usually fairly easy to make working again - in knowledgeable hands. Super easy if it's a treadle. It doesn't take much learning/time, just interest. 🐱
Next on the agenda .. Morse, Necchi, Singer .. they will all live again!

They'll live on for centuries. 😀 I went specifically hunting this 15-91 for myself because I was looking for the strongest straight stitch domestic machine out there. I saw one of these things sew through about 20mm of leather like it was a stick of butter!
I know, right? I need a bigger garage. Sometimes a person just wants to keep a machine just because it's special. 🪙
Just finished servicing a Husqvarna Viking #1+ 300th Anniversary Edition Sewing & Embroidery Machine (with the gold emblem!).
I'll probably let this one go up for auction starting at $1 on eBay, tomorrow. 🐱 Too many ponies here, not enough stables.. 🤦♂️

Today, I brought this Singer 15-91 Blackside back to life. Motor rebuilt, rewired, new wicks, cleaned up, motion restored. It will happily live on being used well in it's new home (here). 🐱
