tools of momentary dissociation are critical in enduring all this fuckshittery, please take care of yourself but also, to the extent that you can, keep posting fuzzy screencaps for yourself and the rest of us.
feels like a "baseball bat you keep propped up behind the counter at the convenience store you work at" kind of situation
because you have to click through to know if it *is* or not! lucky you!
again, this is my experience from 20 years ago, but even then, it was an entirely different group of people that wrote/edited/modified those headlines than the people who cared a lot about *exactly* what was in print forever.
I worked at a paper in the late aughts, and this has been common practice for a long time; it's just that it feels considerably more sinister when you're talking about *war crimes*. It's clickbait rules applied to deadly serious topics.
if this goes on for too long, we should probably get kids back on cigarettes. somebody call Joe Camel.
On this Trans Day of Visibility, and every other day on the calendar--- always and forever:

one of the required business classes I took in college (in 2007) had a whole unit on Second Life with promises like "one day you could watch (worse) product demos here!" Nearly 15 years later these geniuses were like yes, but what if it was also tied to expensive hardware!

In a recent hiring round, I interviewed a candidate who claimed to live in Chicago (where I'd lived for years) but couldn't tell me a single thing about the city. I felt like a human CAPTCHA. It's so deeply bad for everyone involved.
I really love America sometimes.
Today it was snowballs. Tomorrow, someone could paint a black circle on the side of a mountain, causing our officers to drive the train into the mountain, turning the train into an accordian that plays a sad little tune indicating that the officer has been seriously injured

Also cool: The creator was inspired by @404media.co coverage, a great illustration of why their journalism is so essential. This kind of work is funded by paid subscribers so become one of those if you can.

put googly eyes on that snowball there’s another pal right there!
The tragedy of John Fetterman is that he used to dress like a slob but have an encouraging spirt, making him an Oaf of Rugged Individuality, one of America’s great oaf groups. But now he dresses like a slob and whines all the time, making him an Oaf of Misery
