I have been messing around on baroque flute for a few months and today ran through some of the same exercises on a modern flute and it felt better than sex. Theobald Boehm was an all time genius.

I’ve been going to DJ Station for 17 years now but I think tonight is the first time I’ve put a flute in their bag check.

I’m attending this electro acoustic music festival in Bangkok and it’s easily the most mind blowing thing I’ve seen in months www.instagram.com/p/DV9v84PjP5...

At the risk of sounding like a shill, Opus 4.7 is insanely good. Notably better than 4.6—it happens that I’ve been maxing out my limits with 4.6 for the past several days and switching to 4.7 fixed a lot of stuff instantly. This is most impressed I’ve been with an AI release in several months.

I know its such a tired angle, but I find it very icky that somehow OpenAI has figured out I am going to Vietnam soon and sends me an email suggesting I practice Vietnamese with their AI. Sure, this is a typical Internet advertising practice, but throwing a very smart AI into the mix...

Happy Thai, Bengali, Cambodian, Lao et al new year to all. Great excuse for humans, me included, to relaunch anything you missed on the Gregorian or Lunar new year 🙏😉

I told it about my longstanding discomfort with sand and, discussing my plans for Da Nang in a few weeks, it replied:

Watching hard fork on video for the first time and i am shocked because I had @caseynewton.bsky.social and @kevinroose.com voices swapped in my brain. It’s like they did a freaky friday.

I knocked down my Muay Thai trainer twice during sparring today… wth. If it was an actual fight one more of those would have been a win

Earthquake in Taipei, apparently minor, hopefully no one hurt. Excellent early warning system, my phones got the alert a few seconds before the tremor.

MoCA Taipei just has such excellent curation. Latest exhibition, an exploration of Taiwanese artist collectives, has several excellent/weird installations, including this stunning driftwood sculpture of the skeleton of a specific beached whale.

Useless insight but I think the 2010s ended in like 2023. COVID is not a 2020s thing, file it alongside Trump I and Adele Dazeem. Now that I think about it,”2019” was in the name all along.

I flew too close to the sun. Riding a ubike thru Taipei in a drizzle and just absolutely ate shit. Just completely careening into a horizontal position. Like Tony hawk but on the wrong dimensional plane. I’m totally ok. Only problem is that there is no video of this world historical spill.

An absolutely insane book so far, I’m 1/3 of the way in and these guys are so f***ed, it’s astonishing. It’s the most staggering depiction of “being totally f***ed” that I have ever seen.

The VERY MEAN AND NASTY Jesus Christ flipped over a bunch of tables in the temple and assaulted our fine money changers with a whip! HE WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH THIS. Jesus is a well-known leftist who has NO RESPECT for the businesses that make our houses of worship great!

Me: that’s weird, I think the thermostat is broken. It is set to 26 but the room is 22.

Friend: … yeah. It’s colder outside than in the room.

Me: oh. OH.

Friend: This isn’t Thailand.

Brain exploding food discovery today - Myanmar 🇲🇲 cuisine also has roti prata and this version might actually be better than the standard SG/MY version?

I can't believe I am posting this, but after using Claude Code for approximately 15 minutes I am genuinely blown away by this more than any other AI tool, including original ChatGPT itself.

In Ukraine, a New Arsenal of Killer A.I. Drones Is Being Born

Its addressed in the article, but I nevertheless find it super weird that the NYT couldn’t pin down the exact name of the Eric Schmidt company building partially autonomous killer robots www.nytimes.com/2025/12/31/m...
