Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.
After seeing the aftermath of Abdul El-Sayed asking Olivia Reingold what she meant by a Jewish state, I became convinced it's a question that should be asked more often. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
If not for Trump, what's the emoluments clause for? What's impeachment for? What's the 25th Amendment for? What's section 3 of the 14th Amendment for? What are checks and balances for?
The baddies are cherrypicking the Constitution the same way they do the bible: for their own benefit.
Not a penny to make life more affordable for American families, but $70 BILLION for ICE to terrorize our communities.
there are nearly 13 million lawful permanent residents in the United States, and they generally have the right to leave and return to the U.S. as they please
on Wednesday, the Trump admin will ask the Supreme Court to change that

flipping through a proof of yet another book from a somewhat well known liberal voice diagnosing “where the left went wrong” and i’m struck, again, by the fact that a large part (if not most) of the liberal commentariat simply does not believe that the political right has agency.
The investment is the latest example of circular financing during the AI boom—the practice of tech companies investing in AI startups to help the latter buy products or services from the original investors.
Florida's economy works by converting pension funds into real estate speculation & medical debt. I'm impressed it's lasted as long as it has
WARREN: That's not my question. Are you refusing to tell us if you have investments in vehicles set up by Jeffrey Epstein?
KEVIN WARSH: Those assets will be sold if I'm confirmed
ELIZABETH WARREN: Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?
KEVIN WARSH: Uhm, we try to keep politics if I'm confirmed out of the Federal Reserve
WARREN: I'm just asking a factual question
WARSH: I believe this body certified the election
WARREN: That's not the question I'm asking
Opposing white supremacy is a crime in Trump’s America.
This feels a lot like southern states persecuting the NAACP during Jim Crow.
surely no army in military history has ever been laid low by disease, a famously uncommon problem among people living in enforced close quarters
@SecWar: The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force. We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately. 21 Apr 26
Washington ordered smallpox inoculations for the Continental Army beginning in 1777.
Hegseth, therefore, is taking a mid-18th century, pre-Industrial Age approach to medicine and warfare.
And .. here come the Freedom of Information Act requests for Kash Patel records
DC watchdog group Democracy Forward has formally requested Patel's calendars & any messages from security detail that include words "drinking", "hungover", "inebriated"

Is someone going to tell him that the flu killed more US troops in WWI than any battle did (and that war had chemical weapons so horrific that they were banned afterwards)?
He just gave away the whole game
RFK Jr. just said HHS is "cleaning up the risk pool" (i.e., people who are unhealthy) to bring down healthcare costs.
Reminds me of 2009-ish era when our fed govt went after DHS experts warning of far-right extremism. The effort to eliminate research & documentation of far-right dominant violence in the US is an attempt at parity that ultimately limits our ability to mitigate harm. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/21/u...
One of the dispiriting things about being a political writer in this era is that things are simultaneously horrifying and, in an intellectual sense, kind of boring. There’s nothing particularly challenging to grapple with; just a lot of hackwork where you point out the same lies for the 87th time.

Simple rule: the Senate should not confirm any appointee to any post who can’t say clearly who legitimately won the 2020 presidential election. Not just who was “installed”, but who won the vote and the electoral college.
Yet again, the thought: how is this not embarrassing to him, to his followers, to everyone? How is this revelation alone not enough to end his career, to make him a universal figure of mockery? How can anyone support, or respect, or fear someone so viscerally *pathetic*?
The best clip of the visit because you can actually see the kids' faces and their little reactions are so lovely.

In a blow for the white leftists who didn't vote for @kamalaharris.com because they thought the Biden-Harris administration didn't cancel enough of their student debt, the Trump-Vance administration is imposing new grad loan caps. All predictable to anyone who knows anything about politics.
At least they're not stupid enough to waste taxpayer money on flying Vance to Islamabad to sit in a hotel room waiting in vain for Iran to show up.
