I started a company that makes human sized barbecue spits. Let's see which company becomes more profitable.
Poster for the Internet Archive's 2026 Public Domain Film Remix Contest, featuring the "Lockette," a cartoon character with an open lock, seated in a director's chair, legs crossed, and holding a megaphone. Projected on a screen to her right is a frame from the 1930 film "King of Jazz". Illustrated by Freya Morgan.

Cannot stress enough how surreal it is for Astra to be included.
I had considered swinging for the fences and contacting them but they reached out to US first.
A 1998 advertisement for Kinetix 3D Studio Max and Character Studio animation software, powered by Intergraph TDZ 2000 MAX workstations. The top half of the ad has text introducing the software and workstation as the 'next generation character animation solution' and the 'preferred combination for those who were born to animate.' A small image shows a white CRT monitor displaying a 3D dancing baby, next to a blue computer tower, with the text 'Power to the creators.' The large white headline reads 'Baby Mosh.' followed by 'Born to Animate' in script. Below, the Kinetix logo is visible. The bottom half of the ad features a realistic 3D rendered baby in a blue light, floating in space. Numerous disembodied hands reach up surround the baby.
What an amazing ad I found at random on the @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social magazine archive.

Worth a watch:
Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.
🙂well you know what that means
It's been a while since I've had art on a new CD digipak (the package format of choice for my NIN releases back in the day). @sonicmayhem.com's new ambient score is perfect vibe music for working alone late at night, and it accompanied me on some new glitch explorations into the DNA of cities.
anyway, we have a Goth Chuck E. Cheese in our house now

Fun fact. The VHS has a transparent area on his head so you saw the VHS tape through it.
Which is great, except when the video store you work at uses cardboard inserts and not tapes so all customers saw a was a big white square on his forehead.
