Hi to my new followers! I don't spend much time on social media these days (so many hours reclaimed for writing by no longer doom-scrolling Twitter!) but when I do post it'll be here.

Tortoiseshell cat lays partially curled up on a human's lap, with one paw outstretched, head thrown back, and mouth opened in a giant yawn.
Yawn or diabolical cat laugh? You decide!

The shelter I used to work at (& adopted my kitties from) does the same thing. Though amusingly, they tried to rehome a feral cat at my old apt complex 2x to diff't farms as a barn cat. The 2nd time it showed back up at the complex the office staff adopted it & it became a complex kitty instead.

A towering black silhouetted figure stands before a red dusk background, the point of her hat crossing the deep golden moon. Her hair fans out like wings, and her smile is illuminated the same gold as the moon, showing off teeth befitting a bear trap. Below her stands a human woman illuminated orange by the lantern she holds, her hair wild in the wind, a scarf snug around her neck. Tentacles emerge from the silhouetted figure, including several that approach the human woman, looking in the orange illumination like they are flames from a camp fire. Steel chains run around the rim of the cover art, along with silhouettes of jarred creature specimens, books, and at least one bear trap. At the center of the book it reads SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN. At the bottom the author is credited: JOHN WISWELL.
Time for a COVER REVEAL!
SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN out 4/2/24!
Shesheshen is a shapeshifting horror with a big problem: she's fallen for a human. She’s never connected with someone like she does with the kindly Homily…until she learns Homily is here to hunt her.

Made what is probably my final post and update to Twitter. It had a good 15 year run! Alas, but all good things must end, especially on the internet.

Couldn't find a book locally so I ordered it online.
Per the UPS tracker, it is 200 miles away and will take 7 days to get to me.
I would like to apologize to the poor UPS worker who is apparently walking from New Jersey with my book...

My dishwasher is doing that annoying thing where it refuses to unload itself and so dirty dishes are piling up in the sink because I don't want to stop writing long enough to deal with unloading *and* reloading the dishwasher... 🤣

A writer and an agent sit in an office in a tall building. Outside is a city of tall buildings.
The writer is saying “I thought you were going to get me a six-figure advance for my book”
The agent replies “Well, it is six figures if we count the pound sign, the decimal point and the two zeroes at the end”
The writer is holding a piece of paper that reads £89.00

Normally this time of year, people start coming out of the woodwork with "sorry I haven't been answering emails, it's summer."
This year it's been all "sorry I haven't been answering emails, I've had COVID."
Fun times.
