Interested in how an influential amicus curiae brief comes together?
Joining me in this webinar are Rachel Grossman and John Nakahata from the firm that represented me & Larry Oda, whose personal story of birthright citizenship the brief narrates.

Really? I didn't know that!

A college friend and I have been texting the silliest of these almost daily for several years.
Former #UNC provost secretly settles lawsuit against university alleging illegal secrecy.

For a comedy nerd, you're SO serious!
"Didnโt they go to a side of the moon weโve never been to?"
I said it was enjoyable. I enjoyed it.
Being unable to imagine people can experience the same thing differently must be frustrating.
Enjoyable to watch? Absolutely!
Courageous? For sure!
Unprecedented? Hardly!
The stuff of "awe?" Depends on your perspective.
Awe was what I felt watching this as a kid.
What I felt this time was "nostalgia," or maybe "deja vu."

Certainly.
You all know he'll claim A DEAL just before the civilization-obliteration deadline, right?
Regardless of whether there's actually a deal?
Right?
Dear Chief Justice Roberts, is threatening the death of a civilization within the scope of the President's Article II absolute immunity? Or just his presumptive immunity?
Asking for a nation.

My university is too scared of its shadow to publicize the impact of my amicus brief in the birthright citizenship case, so I am grateful to my former dean Gene Nichol for this shout-out.

This administration's stupidity is unbounded.
We circled the moon in 1968, seven months *before* landing on it.
I started studying Japanese American imprisonment before 9/11, when it was "just history." Today it's anything but just history.
I hate what's happening in our world, but am so glad to be able to make a little contribution.
Like most everyone else, I see the government losing in today's #birthright #citizenship case.
And it's braggy to note this, but this is such a rare thing that I'm going to do it anyway: My amicus curiae brief got *two* call-outs in the courtroom this morning.
Kind of a dream come true.
Justice Alito should bring this sensibility to his effective assistance of counsel jurisprudence!
I'm stunned. Rachel Maddow spent a full 3 minutes tonight detailing the arguments I make in my amicus curiae brief in the birthright citizenship case.
Here's hoping Sam Alito and Neil Gorsuch are regular Maddow Show watchers! ๐

In my amicus curiae brief in the birthright citizenship case, I show that the U.S. recognized as citizens children born to (1) Japanese enemy aliens, (2) US citizenship renunciants, and even (3) people dragged to the US from Peru and held for deportation.

You cannot make this shit up โ UNC is hosting an โAI for the Public Goodโ conference. Tickets for this event, conceived of and held at a publicly funded university, are $250. ๐
What an odd take. I've been on college campuses since 1994. There have been countless events worthy of big protests over that time -- and almost no sizable protests.
The question is the opposite of the one this piece asks: why has there been only one seize-the-campus-style protest in decades?
Pssst, hey, you, thinking about #lawschool?
Let me fill you in on something.
The so-called "socratic method" in most of your classes will really just be a reading quiz.
With your reading assignment open in front of you.
Well, but note he maintains those 15 hours were without *Claude*.
Maybe ChatGPT got him over the finish line.
I can say only that the right place for this obscenity of a planning session was a space called the Indian Treaty Room.

1925 called and they want their antisemitic stabbed-in-the
-back myth back.
Check out the twink in this weird new #DHS Bobby Kennedy #MAHA video.
(There's also a person dressed as a dessert pastry.)
Until this, my 64th turn around the sun, I'd had one encounter w/ out-loud antisemitism. In a store, a salesman accused a guy of trying to "Jew" him on a price.
In the last 6 weeks I've had three. All conventional anti-Jewish things. None of them about Israel, Gaza, etc.
Something has shifted.
This is a peak UNC Chapel Hill story.
They've put a popular undergrad tour guide on probation after an undercover UNC employee went on her tour and disapproved of a few things she said.
It's astonishing how fragile this university often is.
