This week, we talked about a guy who had 1 hit for the Mets and our guest @marksimon.bsky.social was there to see it! Ross Jones had a walk off double in his only Mets hit. Jones played 67 MLB games and then had a long career in film!

There were several references to “Let’s Go Bucs” printed in the PG for the NHL HOCKEY Pirates from 1928-29.

71 years ago today, Roberto Clemente made his MLB debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Batting third and playing right field, he went 1-for-4 in the Pirates' 10-3 loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers at Forbes Field.
He singled off Johnny Podres in his first at bat for his first MLB hit.

[April 16th, 1946] The Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-0 at Sportsman's Park to even their season series. Max Lanier pitched a shutout for St. Louis. Stan Musial hit a triple, and Whitey Sisler singled off Ken Gables. Attendance for the game was under 3,000.
