Being true to the original intent of the drafters of the Constitution requires understanding the intent of all of those people who wrote the document over the 184 years it was written.
The drafters of the Constitution are not just those men who wrote the base document in 1787, but also include those people who wrote each amendment that was added.
The U.S. Constitution was written between 1787 and 1971. The document is not just the preamble and seven articles, which were both brilliant and flawed, but also the 27 amendments written and ratified in attempts to make this a more perfect Union.
