I've deleted ALL other social media platforms but I've been checking in with Bluesky less & less for this exact reason. I'm also engaging less to avoid it. Might have to stop reading comments all together.
It takes ZERO work or effort to delete FB, X, Instagram, Threads, Spotify, Uber, Prime. Same to stop supporting sports teams, performers, promoters that support tRump. Certain things I agree, it's not so easy. But there're SO many things we can easily do to hurt them. We're just not willing to.

I was trying to say that it's always been known proton would do this. I'm pretty certain this isn't the first time it's happened. I think the real problem is people sign up for stuff without actually understanding what they've signed up for. Then get upset when their assumptions are incorrect.
I've never heard or read that proton wouldn't hand over payment data if requested by the government. The selling point was that your emails are safe. Unlike Google, proton won't "read" or hand over the emails. But payment was never on the table. That's why they accept alternative payment methods.

I was allergic to cats. Then we found a sick kitten during Covid so there was nowhere to get her help. We didn't want her to suffer, so we took her in (behind our landlords back 😬). I don't remember how long it took but I'm no longer allergic & now she's my little bff. 🐈⬛
