In Ethiopia the term is often used in a derogatory manner against opponents and dissenting voices. Recently TPLF office in Tigray, which labelled its splinter group “Yihuda” & launched violent attacks, after disseminating this designation through its cadre channels down to the grassroots level.

Is calling someone "Yihuda" (ይሁዳ in Tigrigna or Yehudah / יְהוּדָה in Hebrew), or in other Semitic languages, inherently antisemitic? Or is it not when used in religious historical contexts?
