Aw, reading on Facebook that Barrie Tomlinson has died. As an editor he was a pretty titanic figure in British comics from 60s through to the end of the 80s. He was behind Wildcat, Roy of the Rovers, Scream!, and the much loved 80s version of Eagle among others.

@2000ad.bsky.social 's latest Thrill-Cast has a biggie, "what would Absolute Dredd look like", what key thing do you remove to see what happens? "Judges in a democratic state & not ruling but still Judges" came up, that'd be huge - I'm thinking "Judges aren't monastic"

Mark Andressen?
One of the most frequent causes of Charlie Kirk related cancellation was accurately representing his views, or even quoting them verbatim.
She expressed grief about Kirk's murder, and the only hateful thing in the comments came from Kirk himself.
My dumb guy theory is that people basically treat Trump like a movie so you absolutely have support for impeachment because the majority of voters just want to see the next big news thing happen
Good thread which I think gets at an answer to the question “what are Events for?” - why do these things still sell? And a lot of the time it’s setting up a bubble status quo where characters can actually achieve things
That's what's supposed to happen when the rule of law is ignored. Things are supposed to devolve and get messy, that threat is what keeps the law respected.
The norms and civility only work when all parties are aware of what happens when one of them breaks from them.
Supporting data centers is the political equivalent of rolling around in the flaming bag of shit on your porch.
Seattle Times wants the state to rely more heavily on "natural" gas and hope for nuclear fusion instead of decarbonizing, which is yet anohter example of why editorial boards—made up of non-experts who often get facts wrong about stories in their own newspapers—should go the way of the dodo.
Iron Flag has the first and best pop response to 9/11, with its suggestion that the War On Terror should be placed in the hands of Ghostface Killah
they are calling it the perfect summary of the "keep men out of women's sports" movement
what if i fucking kill you
Doing a Ted Kaczynski biopic focusing solely on his mathematics career. It ends on a freeze frame of him solving a particularly difficult equation with text on screen reading, "His story continues..."
wow it's almost as if congress should pass a federal anti-gerrymandering law 🤔
On a weird world. dead aliens climb out of graves to confront the reader, behind them a spaceship is held down by large cables. There are three captions, they read "This Planet..." "It's not a dead world..." "It's a grave yard"...
Terran Omega part 2 page 10 & 11 is now up! www.patreon.com/posts/to-gho...
Hilariously, the movie has no ending whatsoever. Michael performs Bad at Wembley, and the movie cuts to a title card saying "His story continues..." I'm not kidding. Just crashes to a halt where a third act would be, that can't be legally shown.
The number of Republicans crashing out about getting nakedly gerrymandered is, unironically, a sign that we need to do more of it. You guys are correct! This shit sucks! Welcome to the party, pals! We can all stop doing it any time you like!
our entire society would be better if we hadn't gendered and raced the shit out of just who gets to give feedback and who can never give it, who is on the hook to hear feedback and who is never on the hook to hear it or take it seriously, and the various combos of those categories
Can we not fucking do this? He doesn't need removing from office because he's mentally ill, he needs removing from office because he's a genocidal war criminal.
A great thread. I'm going to be annoying and state for the billionth time that this is why the Wildstorm characters do not belong in the DCU. Because the DC heroes are in charge of maintaining a world that is essentially good.
I’m a detective
Trump knows that everyone understands what "Low IQ person" means when he says it but the press isn't willing to write it. He knows they will always cover for him and he loves that he can get away with it. He's used so many old timey racist terms he hopes no one knows but he also does this
it's cool that this is literally just 100% Trump's fault
Pic: The cover is broken into roughly four quadrants. The upper left reads OLD with an orange background, and the bottom right reads 97's with a yellow background. The lower left is a black and white photo of the band, four white guys, posing a bit goofily for the camera. In the upper right quadrant is a listing of all the songs on the album. The whole cover aesthetic has the feel of something released in the 60s. Second pic: A yellow circle, sun-like, with rays of yellow and red emanating from it just on the top 180 degrees. The other 180 degrees below it is blue. In the circle, written in black, is THE KNIFE. The "I" in knife has been replaced by a red silhouette of a knife.
The Best Album of 2001 Round 1 Match #22

No the more I think about it the more I think we should all hate tech Nazis even more than we already do
Any Dem who runs on a platform of ending every single government contract with Palantir, then hiring a team of experts to undo the damage these fascist dorks have done to our infrastructure, communications and personnel, not only has my vote, but has my donation checks and volunteer hours as well.
Huge fan of food.
SCOOP: Two weeks ago, the head of the CDC delayed publication of a report showing covid vaccine cut likelihood of ER visits and hospitalizations by half. Now that report is no longer allowed to be published in CDC’s flagship scientific journal. My latest. 1/2

Two Magic the Gathering Card. The one on the left is called Progenitus, depicts a world sized hydra, and costs 2 of every mana to play. It's abilities are "Protection from everything" and "If Progenitus would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, reveal it and shuffle it into it's owner's library instead. It's a 10/10, and widely considered unplayable. The card on the right is called Heartfire Hero, and depicts a mouse soldier using fire magic. It costs a single red mana, and has the special ability Valiant. Valiant — Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability you control for the first time each turn, put a +1/+1 counter on it. When this creature dies, it deals damage equal to its power to each opponent. Heartfire Hero is banned for being too powerful
