I was happily surprised to see this from Cape Town, also 3 Jan 2025. #astrophotography
My amazing colleague and friend Becky Gowland gave a public talk recently. Check it out youtu.be/Bnml0j-6_aM?... #childhood #bioarchaeology #osteoarchaeology

Image of a sand frog. It is very well camouflaged, most easily identified by finding its eye in the image (just left of centre next to the green blade of grass)
Group of ArchSoc members standing in Peers Cave
Saw my first sand frog on my way to Peers Cave as part of a South African Archaeological Society outing 🐸 It's very well camouflaged, so a hint is given in the Alt text. Peers Cave is an unfortunate example of how not to do #Archaeology, but there are still things to see if you know where to look.
Penguin figure made of plastic with crocheted eyes
Poster with information about plastic pollution
Penguin room with African penguins. Banner at back says, "African penguin extinct by 2035?"
Top image has a sandpit with model fossils that children can brush open with the paintbrushes provided. Bottom image has a fake rock "shelter" with rock art images on it. Elephants are the most prominent images.
I picked up this penguin made of plastic at UCT at the end of October. Today I went to Two Oceans Aquarium for my free visit. Since the aim was to raise awareness, I took note of the info about how to help our oceans and penguins. Loved the unexpected references to #Archaeology and #Palaeontology!
