#ThingsWithRings! Read this new @uk.theconversation.com article about some of the surprising biological archives out there, and what we can use them for... theconversation.com/most-animals...

Image of a sand frog. It is very well camouflaged, most easily identified by finding its eye in the image (just left of centre next to the green blade of grass)

Saw my first sand frog on my way to Peers Cave as part of a South African Archaeological Society outing 🐸 It's very well camouflaged, so a hint is given in the Alt text. Peers Cave is an unfortunate example of how not to do #Archaeology, but there are still things to see if you know where to look.

I picked up this penguin made of plastic at UCT at the end of October. Today I went to Two Oceans Aquarium for my free visit. Since the aim was to raise awareness, I took note of the info about how to help our oceans and penguins. Loved the unexpected references to #Archaeology and #Palaeontology!
